n his message, "Jesus and the Scapegoat", Bishop Robert Baron, reflects on a story from the 8th Chapter from John's Gospel. He says that this biblical passage presents a "world predicated not upon violence, not upon hatred of the other, but a world predicated upon compassion and forgiveness and non-violence."
Bishop Robert E. Baron became Auxillary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2015. He received a M.A. in Philosophy from the Catholic University of America in 1982 and a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Institut Catholique de Paris in 1992. After his ordination, he served as associate pastor at St. Paul of the Cross Parish in Park Ridge, Illinois. Later he was appointed to the theological faculty of Mundelein Seminary, and has served as a visiting professor at the University of Notre Dame and at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, as well as scholar in residence at the North American Pontifical College at the Vatican.
This archived 30 Good Minutes program first aired in January 2002.

The Scapegoat is not necessarily innocent or fragile but always a group or a individual that should be sacrificed for the well-being or re-establish of the order. What is hard to understand is that Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice and He will one day bring the real well-being and the real order. That is the role of the Holy Catholic Church spread the good news: God gave his only son in sacrifice to save us all and put a end of sacrifices.

Amen! Christ is the final sacrifice. He is the only way, the only truth and the source of eternal life. He who has the son has eternal life (1 John 5: 11,12). We can have eternal life now when we believe in Jesus and when we die we sleep in him, just like when He (Jesus) said that Lazarus is asleep (John 11:11), awaiting that resurrection day (Revelation 1:7).

There were two goats - one is the LORD's goat & the other is the scapegoat. If you compare the scapegoat to Jesus, it doesn't make sense. Here's a brief comparison. SCAPEGOAT: - was never called an offering - Lev 16:10 - was never brought into the temple - Lev 16:7,20,21, Luke 10:18 - never sheds blood. Lev 16:10,20,21 - was kept alive and sent into the wilderness. JESUS: - was an offering - Isa 53:10 - was brought into the tabernacle - Heb 9:11,12 - Shed His blood - Luke 22:20 LORD's GOAT: - offered as a sin offering - Lev 16:9 - blood shed - Lev 16 Jesus bore the full brunt of sin for us and because of His grace and we are no longer under the condemnation of sin. That said, Satan will not be saved from his sins and will continue to carry the guilt of his sins until his final defeat - into the wilderness - into the bottomless pit spoken of in Revelation 9.

We are told that there will be no New Torah thus the "New Testament" is false. Also in Ezekiel chapters 40 to 48 when the Temple is rebuilt there will be sacrifices again.

The Torah was not abolished; rather, it was fulfilled. Jesus said, "Do not think that I have some to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill" -Matthew 5:17. By means of the Torah, God was preparing and cultivating minds and hearts to receive the fullness of His plan for humanity that was revealed in His Son, Jesus.

Yes, the temple will be built again for Ezekiel. Unfortunately for you, that temple was the second temple built prior to Jesus' coming. Which was destroyed in the year 70 AD
