Ashley Soto Jodi Arias' defence team, Nurmi and Wilmott objected every 5 minutes during her trial for murder. The jury rightly, found her guilty. They told reporters that all the objections only made Aries' seem guilty and the defence look worried, because of her guilt. So let him object away.

Whoever is operating the camera here is utterly appalling. The effect of the operator's negligence is to insert the camera as a player in the drama - instead of passively capturing the proceedings - as it wobbles, swishes about the room, and clicks and clanks throughout. The noise coming off the thing is unbelievable, and it's making me sea sick! Things *better* improve

By the constant objections, Defense counsel is signalling to the jury that the prosecution is doing inappropriate things... I hope the jury is smarter than this because it is what defense counsel is doing that is actually inappropriate. The constant objections for no reasons at all are just pathetic.
@ailleananaithnid25664 жыл бұрын
Erik S : It’s to interrupt the momentum of the prosecutor. (I mostly avoided when I could since it tends to alienate & annoy the jury.) Note how it’s working, though. The prosecutor keeps missing opportunities to repeat Durst’s own words to make the point: “I can do what I want and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.” That’s a BETTER way to establish his point than interpreting Durst’s attitude (“He thinks the rules don’t apply to him.”) It might sound like the same thing, but using the defendant’s words isn’t argument but interpreting them is. Look, the defense has a rude, immature, pathological sociopathic client. They have to do what they can to take the jury’s focus off of Durst to shift attention to the “technical” mistakes that the prosecutor is making. The OTHER thing to think about is that the defense is laying the groundwork for an appeal. When you are trying any case you also must be mindful of making a record for an appeal. In trials, your objections follow a “use it or lose it” rationale. If you don’t object, you cannot raise that issue on appeal.
@jojo-ov7or4 жыл бұрын
When did you get your law degree to state that what defense counsel is doing is actually inappropriate? What the prosecution is trying to do is state inference as fact. The judge ruled as much. The defense counsel has every right to object to the way the prosecution is trying to portray what is, in fact, not evidence as fact!

Mr. Smartypants Durst, is not as intelligent as he thinks he is. 28:02 "Not as extreme as me." is incorrect. It should be "Not as extreme as I.". The best way to remember is to finish the sentence. Example: That kid has more confidence than I do. You wouldn't say "than me do". :) Or, to paraphrase in this case, "My little brother Tommy is not as extreme as I am." You wouldn't say "as me am". This English lesson is free of charge. Haha.

@Jude Christenson. Haha. I hear you. It's funny because several weeks ago I (basically) had an English class to a group of children in the apt complex parking lot where my mother lives. Two in third grade and one in kindergarten. They catch me going to the car or taking her trash out because we made the mistake of giving them small ice creams one day to coax them to be quiet outside her door while we were on an important call. :) One said "Me and (so and so)" and the lesson began. Haha. They were actually excited and had fun and now tell me how MANY people they hear say it. I told them to look at these as two sentences. You wouldn't say "Me went to the store". To always think of the other person first in the sentence. Example: My brother and I went to the store. :) I've been obsessed with this stuff since a kid decades and decades ago. I had a mother that would correct me each time and it was drilled in my head. Then, I drilled it in my son's head. Haha. It was nice to see you still care, as well. Have a blessed day. :)

@@toriesepahmd6468 Unfortunately, I have heard on several occasions that many jurors make up their minds after hearing the attorneys give their opening statements. Judge should have shut down the prosecutor at the beginning. The prosecutor is arguing the evidence without any witness having taken the stand and no chance for cross examination. This is a clown show of a trial. Defense should object at each piece of “evidence “ The prosecutor is introducing during his opening without any witness laying a foundation for that evidence.

Yeah, I bet. How many people have ended up dead that you know and you are the considered a suspect?

How many jury trials have you actually watched?? They ALL do that. That's what opening statements are for: you lay out the bones of your case and then question the evidence and witnesses more in depth during the trial to add the meat, skin, and teeth to it. The judge *literally* explained it at the very beginning.

You would think this is his first time in court. Way to highstrung ! When it comes to Robert Durst testifying, his team needs to replace him. He's going to lose the trial because of his unprofessional conduct in court. It's day 41 an I don't know how he hasn't found himself in contempt. The judge has been very lenient with him. Let someone else cross examination Robert Durst. Case will be lost if he gets up there an questions Durst with his overly high strung personality. Replace him before he loses everything !
@jungian24764 жыл бұрын
I'm a big fan of Robert Durst, hope he gets a fair trial and is acquitted. The prosecutor has already stepped over the mark several times in the first half hour of his opening statement. The judge needs to reign him in, there is a danger of a mistrial developing already.

Why are you a big fan? The dude's claim to fame is that he is a gazillionaire that previously got off on murder charges, was basically exiled from his family's business interests because he's a nut, and he is suspected in a few more murders. Aside from that, what has he accomplished that made you a fan? I watched the Jinx and read articles about him. While I agree Durst is a fascinatingly weird dude, there is nothing about him that makes me want to be a fan.
