Thanks for the upload. I love me some Robert E Howard at his best. But man, this story mostly shows how great old H.P. was and how difficult it is to do cosmic horror well.

The narrator gets a thumbs up just for being able to pronounce "unwieldily." Bless his heart. Nice example of Howard's inability to stay away from the temptation of sword and sorcery. Fun indeed.

My head just about twisted off...this guy narrates several Thomas Sowell books. Totally different genre.

Thank you. Howard was something else. Martin's got nothing on that guy, yeah I said it.

I wonder if this a nod toward Lovecraft's "Dunwich Horror" or it's the other way around.

Very Lovecraftian. Reminds me of The Dunwich Horror.

Enjoyable story - but Howard has a tendency to explain his mysteries in clumsy devices - in this case, Marjorie’s description of what Stark told her - in very great and excruciatingly long detail. This, white they are inside Stark’s house, subject to attack at any second. It became almost funny. Still, enjoyable and thanks for posting.

I totally agree. I know it's a story, but that was infuriating.

Did Howard name the pets “Bozo” for comic relief? 😁

I note for the record that Howard died in 1936, and Bozo the Clown was created in 1946.

Right! The long storytelling in the killer's house was so foolish.

The key was in the lock? She remembered all that, word for word? And they just sat there yapping instead of escaping? I know it's a story but it pissed me off.

just an annoyance - cats should not be allowed outside, although i know this affronts some. and dogs should be inside at night or when no one is home!!! there’s all sorts of reasons! just ask Jackson Galaxy! (i don’t agree with everything he says, but only little things, not overall. also, i don’t have the money to do everything he advises. :)🐾🐈
