In 1950, Robert Frank left his job as a photographer in New York to travel through Europe with his family. That summer he arrived in Valencia, Spain, which was at the time a humble, bleak place enduring the austere conditions of the postwar period like the rest of the country. The pictures Frank took of Valencia depict the daily life of a fishing village. His portrayal is so natural and clear that further verbal explanation seems superfluous; they simply reflect, in the photo grapher’s words, “the humanity of the moment”. The photographs in this book, many of which have never been published before, allow dignity to override poverty.

I do love it as well. I think having shorter photo books like these are more enjoyable than modern, huge 300+ page works.

Funny, I was recently looking all over the web for flip-throughs of this book but couldn't find any. I bought it anyway, not disappointed. Thanks for all of the work you do to make these videos available to photo book collectors.

Hi, I only just got it myself last week. I guess the publishers want people to be buying the book, but I do find it a bit funny that with these books costing £25 - 75 for a regular copy, there is not more images or videos to convince you to pay so much. It is a big investment if you get a book and find you don't like half the book, which happened to me last week. Thanks for watching and any other books you would like to see?

@@photobookguy1380 I try to do as much due diligence as possible before buying a book, which is why I appreciate all the work you do to share so many books. I have bought a few books I ended up not liking, but I've have good luck reselling those. One book I would love to see is 'American Silence' by Robert Adams. I have a ton of Adams books and have wondered if there is anything in this new book that isn't already covered by the other books I own. Thanks again!

@@andrewc56 If there are any other books you are planing to buy, but aren't sure, drop me a message in case I might have it. I have about 60 more books filmed that are not up yet. I was going to buy 'American Silence' the other day, but found a random copy of The New West for $5 from USA + $16 shipping, so waiting to see if the real thing turns up (hopefully with a dust jacket) before I bought it.
