Thank you for appreciating America’s greatest art form. Robert Glasper and Esperanza Spalding are two stars in the new jazz movement I.e. “Jazz is dead; long live music!” It’s evolving!

Douglas Agyemang kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZLbqKKYZs5-jpY This is the video. I will always remember it. It’s how I learned about AhmadJamal. Been sprung ever since! The intersection of jazz and hip hop is particularly interesting imho. What’s a trip is that this piece is jazz and this piece is hip hop. Every time you try to put either in a box, the forms prove that the box is not real and that creativity and especially musical creativity is limitless!

@שָׁחוֹר יֵשׁוּעַ That one riff he plays throughout the song, and even if you count from the introduction it's in 4/4. That feeling of a 12/8 comes from the drummer subdividing 16ths into groups of 3

I like this type of jazz it's called prophetic in the Christian realm as believers in Christ we do this all the time ...we play a song that worship unto God then as we continue to play in the spirit just like this we sing or play what the spirit of God inside of us is leading us to speak or play
