All the schools and hospitals in Zimbabwe were built by Rhodesia. Mugabe inherited the richest nation in Africa in 1980. He turned it into the poorest. Rhodesia was still the richest nation in Africa by 1980 despite 15 years of war. A credit to all Rhodesians both black and white who fought to keep their land free of Communists. In the end the Communist Dictator won Robert Mugabe. And ordinary African people are now paying the price for his victory.

@Al Person The countries the multitude is lining up around the block to get into? How far back in history do you want to go to find justification for what is happening today in a supposedly more evolved society? If the Celts sacrificed people and the Aztecs sacrificed and ate people, does it mean that cannibalism should be an accepted practice today? www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-41072524 There is a solid reason why Zimbabwe is no longer the "breadbasket of Africa!"
@macclift99565 жыл бұрын
@Al Person So because there was *separate living* at some point in history in South Africa, it justifies the murderous rampage that is taking place on foreigners in that country today? Foreigners who in the future are never going to feel safe around the xenophobes who are constantly attacking them, hurting them, murdering them and looting their shops. Xenophobes who are seemingly filled to the brim with envy, spite and hate, and who will *always* find an excuse for their violence! Someone else is always to blame for their criminal behaviour! That type of predatory aggression is not talked about much in history: the home invasions, the rapes, the murders, the farm attacks, the baby rapes, the child rapes (and we're not talking about isolated cases; we're talking alarming numbers!). I've checked: a *1000 dogs per week* are being poisoned so that those who are plotting home invasions can do their dirty work in peace! But it's always someone else's fault! It's interesting to note that those who are forever doing *the violence dance* are quite unable or unwilling to see that their penchant for violence is what leads to the need for separation! Twisted logic: Green people, who are notorious for violence and predatory aggression accusing their victims, and those who give them a wide berth because of their penchant for violence, of *racism,* for not liking the colour green!

Grew up under Mugabe rule. He started out as a liberator but hey, he turned on us. Yes, we got the education but we were left with no hope. I made a decision to cross the border and leave for greener pastures. That's probably one of the best decisions I made in my entire life. Looking back almost 20 years later, I don't know where I would be today if I had stayed. My best friends from primary school died, both from poor health care, some of my high school mates who used to get better grades than me are living in poverty. I am going back now after his death, to start afresh and help my fellow Zimbabweans. I can't describe how tough it was for us Zimbabweans, other nations will never understand. It was an insecure, corrupt and cruel regime. It was a nightmare. I remember a time when a lot of things were not allowed and we lived in fear. I have forgiven him though there was a time when I found it difficult to do so. Especially when we had a double-act there with Grace Mugabe taking the reins when she probably realised that Mugabe was getting old. I believe that if Mugabe had been kinder to us, Grace would have been able to create the Mugabe dynasty and become the royals of Zim. But all I can say now is we thank God it never happened, the coup Not coup happened and we are moving forward.

I spent some time in Harare in 1987 - his stupid motorcade nearly made the car I was travelling in crash (with guns pointed at us) Sadly, he allowed the power of his position to go to his head, with terrible results. It's sad to say, but the country was probably better off as Rhodesia under Ian Smith than it was under him as its leader. In the end he completely ruined everything. And as for that wife of his.....(Gucci Grace)

It was devastating to see a man with such good intentions become destroyed by power. To see such a beautiful and prosperous country brought to it's knees by hunger, massive inflation, the destruction of farms and by corruption. One is always sad for a life lost, but I cannot feel anything more than a token sadness for a man who put a life of luxury ahead of feeding his people.
