Honestly, I don't think Robert Pattinson is the worst Bruce Wayne. I think the writers did it on purpose, since he's a young Batman in this story, he's also a young Bruce Wayne. He hasn't developed his "Billionaire Playboy" alter ego yet, because he doesn't care about being Bruce Wayne. He only cares about being "Batman". They show this when we first see Alfred and he tells Bruce that invited the accountants of Wayne Interprises to breakfast. When Bruce asks why, Alfred says "Because I couldn't get you to go to them!" Bruce responds with "I don't got time for that." They argue about the family's legacy, with Bruce stating that what he's doing as the Batman is his family's legacy, not as Bruce Wayne.

Im a Batman fan and a dark knight fan and I fucking LOVED this movie. It’s incredibly accurate and real to me. And that car scene was so got damn legendary. Dark knight is its own thing but if you aren’t able to see the beauty in this one you’re on your own for the rest of your life. I also greatly appreciate how this wasn’t focused on the joker and gave some other villains some attention especially the riddler. He’s so underrated!

This movie was a masterpiece. From the writing to the acting to the entire fucking way it was shot! Every moment of this movie was light play and symbolism and it was breathtaking to be so captivated by the way certain moments were filmed. I'm excited because this felt like Battinson coming into Batman, and next movie is WIDE OPEN to the origin of Bruce Wayne as the alter ego. Not the boy or man, but the alter ego. And I'm so excited for that to finally get the respect it deserves !

Pattinson not really playing Bruce Wayne as we know him and the haircut seemed like part of the point for me, that Bruce Wayne saw no point in being Bruce Wayne and socializing with other people publicly and was mentally the Batman (or Vengeance) the whole time. The Batman doesn't need a decent haircut. Alfred's appearances are almost always him trying to get Bruce to go out there and be Bruce, a regular human being, once in a while at least and try to use his identity as Bruce to work toward some of his goals.

I really hope that Zoe Kravitz gets her own catwoman movie! But I disagree with Zach I think she got a lot of really strong character development for a movie that she’s not the protagonist. We know her backstory: her mother was murdered by her father and no one cared. Batman in this story has no room for gray areas, Catwoman exclusively cares about gray areas. Her entire philosophy is if she doesn’t stand up for these people then no one will she even says that explicitly. And she is completely fine to break the law to help the oppressed while Batman disagrees. He’s super judgy (originally) about her stealing from another literal criminal and Batman still isn’t ok with it. Also Kelsey Zoe Kravitz said she played Catwoman as bi so yes absolutely and I’m here for it too!

Why does everyone have such a selective memory for the previous Batman movies? This is the ‘first time Batman portrayed as a Detective’ because he follows clues?? Like in the Nolan films Bruce Wayne doesn’t research, or tail suspects, or interrogate witnesses, or work with the cops, or use his technology to spy on people, or make citizen arrests… except he does!!! In every movie!! The tone might be different: Nolan’s films are crime thrillers and Reeves is more Noir, but doubling down on the tropes doesn’t make one better than the other and the twists here are just as messy as in the Nolan films.

Batman is my biggest special interest and the movies reusing the same villains over and over again never giving time to the best and most wild ones is the biggest disservice to the characters of this world so whenever people who haven’t read comics say they’re tired of Batman movies I understand why. This is the most true to character version of Batman we’ve gotten on film and doesn’t entirely focus on the villain and actually gives him an arc unlike every other life action Batman movie that just makes the villain interesting and Batman is just there (yeah I am looking at you Nolan trilogy).

Garrick's character arc this episode from ragging on Edge Lord Extraordinaire, Bruce Wayne, to understanding that he's an emo millennial is immaculate growth tbth. I am obsessed with the inexperienced and young Batman, and I think the lack of Traditional Billionaire Playboy Philanthropist Bruce Wayne was great because: first off Bruce Wayne is a Hot Mess & Neurodivergent secondly he's the only Batman that I felt would actually adopt or mentor half a dozen (minimum) kids. The Squad talking about the Chaotic Bisexual energy of the Cat and the Bat is everything. I agree that the car scene chase was unnecessary and absolutely had a body count, but also it looked and sounded sick AF, so 🤷

I thought whole point was about renewing if you can't get over. also, the fact that the people were promised renewal and were failed which led to radicalism i thought was really timely. agree about him being a bad wayne; half the movie is the fact he's so into batman that he's ignoring wayne to the point the accountants are knocking on the door, criminals have started using his family's charity as their personal ATM because he hasn't taken any steps to oversee the business, and he basically has been a hermit for years. bruce wayne needs to get his house in order if he's going to pay for batman's toys.

Also to the staple face comment Cameron Monaghan did this in Gotham. This batman movie was like art to me. I loved it. Also, on the hair topic I think it's meant to look like he's a shut-in because he pretty much is in this movie. He doesn't go out and do anything and so his hairs just long and shaggy and looks unkept. Which kind of makes sense if you're shut in?
@cruztastrophe2 жыл бұрын
I'm gonna make a long comment. Controversial take: I don't like Heath Ledger's Joker and I don't like The Dark Knight or The Dark Knight Rises. Consequently, I loved this movie and didn't really see it as a comparison to any of the Nolan trilogy because none of those were noir enough IMO. It felt similar to BTAS though. On the emo hair: It looked kind of emo, but mostly it looked like sweaty hat-hair. I assumed he was unwashed with bad hat hair during his Bruce Wayne scenes because in the beginning he mentions being nocturnal and the Bruce Wayne stuff always happened early or midday. I didn't even know it was Colin Farrell until the end credits. The squealing of the car plus the intense "villainy" score for Batman reminds me of the music from Wonder Woman 1. The electric cello in WW was supposed to sound like the wail of a banshee. The squealing of the car feels very Bat-like screech. Maybe I'm reaching, but it was cool. Catwoman was FOR SURE a bicon (bi icon). The Riddler straight up pulled a "bring your own latte" at a 24 hour hole in the wall diner purely for the ✨aesthetic ✨ . As soon as it panned to the top down shot, I said "he totally did that himself. They don't do latte art at a diner." I like this portrayal of the Batman-Bruce Wayne dichotomy. He develops the playboy side of Bruce Wayne as a way to hide in plain sight because it enables him to further his job as Batman. Noob Batman hasn't yet gotten the hang of switching back and forth yet and I liked seeing him fumble it a bit by being emo and depressed. It's long been established that Batman is his real self and Bruce Wayne is the mask. This movie is the midpoint of that transition, which hasn't been done well on screen before. Especially with the "sins of the father" thing. Now Bruce Wayne can do philanthropy in the light and Batman can beat people up in the dark and he can help Gotham in both ways.

I enjoyed it. It felt right having a Batman where the conflict felt more grounded in reality than usual. ‼️ BUT ‼️- and this may ruin the movie for some - I cannot get over that Batman spends all this time solving puzzles to find the Riddler … when he ends up finding the Riddler in the same freakin’ window that he’d been hold up in, and taking pictures from, for WEEKS! World’s best detective, or any reporter for that matter, never went to check what vantage point he’d taken all those photos from?!? Even when they’re all over the news? Not even for physical evidence? Bruh. They could have caught this dude WAY earlier.
