Best left side ever. I wanted to be Robert Pires in high school lol. Intelligent player.

That's mad tally for winger In era when wingers were only asked to supply the main striker

@@tochukwuemechebe4814yeah, his numbers were great. He scored 14 league goals in 3 consecutive seasons (2003-2005). Highly rated strikers were scoring around 15 goals, the best one's around 20. All that while bringing so much in our build up, being so creative, linking up the attack. He was such a complete attacker.

His last goal was a classic Pires goal but it also came on the last day at highbury which makes it even more special
@LoffAFC5 ай бұрын
Yeah, an amazing and fitting end to his Highbury journey. The icing on the cake would've been if Dennis scored too considering Henry did.

Robert Pires absolutely was a phenomenonal player for our team. The goal i like from Pires actually two away goals by the French man against Liverpool and against Spurs.

Pires was the 1st true elite inverted winger/wide forward in Prem.... See how many of his goals are on his right foot from wide left... It speaks to the move from old school 442 in 90s with left footed crossers as wingers to eventually 433 system with inverted wingers that many big sides deploy. What's also interesting re fluidity is how often Pires appeared on both wide left & wide right to confuse defences because he could go both left & right enough because he wasn't afraid to shift the ball onto his left as needed

our best number 7 , i love Alexis but he would not have been as Talismanic in a team with more quality , a big fish in a small pond. ROBERT PIRES IS OUR BEST WING PLAYER IN MY LIFETIME .

Ey, thank you. Appreciate it! The late 90's/early 2000's Arsenal holds a dear spot in my heart. Love revisiting that time period. And yes, the football was way better back then compared to what we see today.

@@VideoAssistantRafi Pires was a genius just like Bergkamp. He could see things develop way before most other players could. He had unreal vision and silky smooth feet. Yep, he would easily slot into a Premier League all-time 11, even now.

@@LoffAFC FACT👍Bergkamp is my favourite Arsenal/PL & the cleverest if I have to vote & Pires is just behind him & for sure PL Xl on the left regardless whatever formation you playing Robert ahead of CR7 no question.

@LoffAFC That you rate Pires and his gamesmanship in the same ballpark as Bergkamp demonstrates that you truly have an understanding of football, rather than simply being a consumer like 99 percent of the audience. This needs to be discussed a lot more. Pires was the best player in the world in 2001 - 2002 by some distance, and he, like Bergkamp, suffered from his lack of deliberate gloss and presence in the media, impacting their publicities and visibilities, which was never a problem with Henry. Both Bergkamp and Pires are arguably Arsenal's two of the most underrated players ever when any discussion on Premier League's greatest XI pops up. Both reinvented their respected roles and positions - Bergkamp ( shadow striker) and Pires (inverted winger) in their own ways, and were pioneers to modern blueprints of such positions in today's formations. Severely overlooked. Two of my favorite Arsenal players ever. Henry would not have been half as good without the contributions of either of them.
