Just one(!) evening about this, no longer than that. Both Fredrik and Morgan are acquiantances < > friends of mine. But I totally adore them as musicians as well. Morgan Ågren, the drummer on Sol Niger Within, liked this video above very much … *Yay*!!! =) Hm, not so long ago, I released this video, on of the most demanding pieces I’ve ever played: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZmUgmivgtCWbq8 Fredrik’s respons about my guitar-playing was: "… beyond impressive". His response made me very glad. If Allan Holdsworth himself (Fredrik’s and my common ’Master’ since many many years) had said it, I would felt like "finding salvation". Now, it is time for me to continue my studying in our (my and Fredrik’s) Masters music; the music of Allan Holdsworth. But hey - do you know that I sometimes get this Meshuggah-inspiration in composing my own music, for exemple in intro- and outro part in my opening tune Metal Fragmentism on my soloalbum Fragmentism Project from 2004?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opWokqWioM9_p5o (Note: If everything goes well, I’ll release a second soloalbum about 2-3 years from now. Not really, Dmytro. This custom made guitar - on commission by me in the 90s - has a very short mensur; 21.21" over the 7-stringed part. In my 25 years of playing my guitar, the g-string has broken of just a few times, and after a (too) long time stretch in use. In short period of time, I even manage to tune the g-string (still 0.007) up a minor third; b flat.

@robertritchiesse2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha ... Hi there, ProdByMono. =) Well, to make a story short: that grand-guitar was custom made, on commission by me, in the 90s (1991-1997). My main "ax" since -98. A "bunch" of people were involved to design and build that "ax": wooden work, mic., the bridge-plate etc etc. But my grand-guitar is all made in Sweden. (I live in Gothenburg, on the west coast.) You can hear that grand-guitar on my solo albums. Just look for "Robert Ritchiesse" on Spotify, Band-camp ... well, on most of digital platforms. In my view, my latest solo album is ... pretty wild. Line up: Morgan Ågren (F. Thordendal [Sol Niger Within], Devin Townsend etc) on drums; Steve Hunt (Allan Holdsworth band, Stanley Clarke, Billy Cobham etc) on piano and keyboard; Mattias IA Eklundh on guitar, and Kai Ritchiesse on bass and saxophones. robertritchiesse.bandcamp.com/album/defragmentism-project-2019-2020?fbclid=IwAR0JySOjeckOcBKOA-F44jCcoj05fSz5bbaMmreW7xbFTGz_aOK6sUXsYas AND! ;) In February, I’ll release my next solo album: a special composed solo suite for my grand-guitar. The solo suite is named Gautigoths, about 1 h. and 45 min. of me and my grand-guitar only. A teaser from that solo-suite Gautigoths: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHnYgWuObbKBbck Cheers! Robert Ritchiesse

wth did you just do?!?!? awesome. that tone tho!!!? tips?
@robertritchiesse7 жыл бұрын
Haha - I was just having fun. That is all really. Nice to improvise to this marvelous music. Hm, hard to say about tip; it depends on many things. (I’m guessing that you mean the dist.sound.) Well, in short: go for overdrive-character. For me, I’m using a Allan Holdsworth Overdrive Boost-pedal. That pedal is AwEsOmE: that pedal works very "stealthy" (almost no noice, hum or buzz), good overdrive character, generous setting possibilities. I hope this could be a good start for you. All the best, Jerry

Why does it sound like 6 strings?
@robertritchiesse6 ай бұрын
It doesn‘t. My grand-guitar has a much more extended range scale, compared to a six-stringed guitar. It’s like ... a modern grand piano has a more extended range scale compared to a 1800th cent. piano - they don‘t sound the same; a theorb lute has extended range scale compared to a non theorb lute - they don‘t sound the same etc etc Check out track 9 on this grand-guitar album of mine in the link below; that track is one of more striking example of how my grand-guitar does not sound like 6 stringed guitar. The whole suite is special composed for my grand-guitar, b t w - and the suite simply can’t be played ’accurate’ on a six-stringed guitar - my custom made grand-guitar only. robertritchiesse.bandcamp.com/album/gautigoths-grand-guitar-suite?fbclid=IwAR2nxdqwiORzd96rhgkJi2wfUtI02Rp5KneEOk9b-i9a8rw83HYkKxlzREs Have a nice day Robert R.

An 11 string guitar, how’s that thing tuned?
@robertritchiesse6 ай бұрын
My 11-stringed grand-guitar is my "main ax" since -98, custom made on commission by me in the 90s. The tuning system of my grand-guitar is (from "top to bottom" followed by string gauges): g (0,007), d (0,010), bb (0,013), f ((w) 0,018), C (0,026), G (0,036), D (0,046), G (0,060), Eb (0,072), D (0,074), C (0,080). Maybe you’ll like my solo albums (playing my grand-guitar), for example my latest three ones: Defragmentism Project with the line-up: Steve Hunt on keyboard/piano; Morgan Ågren on drums; Mattias IA Eklundh on guitar; and Kai Ritchiessse on bass and saxophones. robertritchiesse.bandcamp.com/album/defragmentism-project-2019-2020?fbclid=IwAR0JySOjeckOcBKOA-F44jCcoj05fSz5bbaMmreW7xbFTGz_aOK6sUXsYas Gautigoths - grand guitar suite: a special composed solo suite for my grand-guitar, in nine movements in the most various expressions. Amazing! Hey, you're from Scandinavia, right? Have you met those guys? Or were you in another flying saucer? :>
@robertritchiesse8 жыл бұрын
Haha … yeah the same UFO - kind of. Yeah, I’m swedish, just like Morgan and Fredrik. I met Fredrik at few times "on the road", such as festivals when we both had gigs at the same location (him, Meshuggah - of course - and I, Massive Audio Nerve. See link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4nEeqqsjcZmias (The bass-player and I are playing on quarter-tone guitar and bass.). Nowadays, I am acquainted to both Fredrick and Morgan and vice versa; we like to "keep an eye" on each others work and they like what I’m "doing". I’m chatting quite a lot with Morgan nowadays about music, practice etc… Very inspiring.
@michalbudzisz8 жыл бұрын
That's great. They're both really awesome musicians. I was very into Meshuggah when I was younger :) I know your band of course :) (And I still love early Korn, Mudvayne or all Deftones for example :>) Although I prefer your solo projects. They are full of outstanding ideas ... Cheers! BTW. Metal Fatigue? :D Or it's just me?
@robertritchiesse8 жыл бұрын
Metal Fatigue … ? What do you mean? :P
@michalbudzisz8 жыл бұрын
:D "Logocide"
@robertritchiesse8 жыл бұрын
Hahaaaa. Damn right it is. :P When I arranged that solo, I set the pitch as the same pitch setted in the chorus in the song Metal Fatigue, "-2", and played the whole solo with that pitch. During that drum break in Logocide I played the chord riff from Metal Fatigue as well. :P This solo arrangements was my tribute to A. H.; my way of saying "thanks" to my true and only father-in-music since 30 years. (Hm, with the risk of being "brash": if you don’t have listened to my soloalbum "Fragmentism Project" (2004), that album is available for free here on KZbin if you want to listen to it. I hope you like it. But that album feels really … old to me nowadays. If everything goes well, I’ll make a second album, about 2-3 years from now - if it feels right in my heart and mind and if I think I’m good enough. (I’m not "there" yet.) The title tune of my new album - Unidentified Legato Object - is actually available here on KZbin (the swell volyme guitar-arr.), just as a teaser of what to come. That tune is like my own "response" to Allan’s Distance Vs. Desire, but my tune much much darker and "evil", futuristic, sci fi. "post war" … something like that compared to Allan’s "light" D. Vs. D. Just search for the name of that tune.) Well, I’ll leave you in piece, my Friend. Haha … Anyway, I(!) have to practice. Sooo much work ahead of me. Take care Rob "the Blob"
