Moderator's Note: Winter is coming, indeed my Lords and Ladies of many seasons! Young Lady Sofie is such a sweet summer child and we owe it to her to protect her innocence from spoilers that will taint her experience of the story that so captivated us through those many seasons. Through her reactions, we get to relive those moments again and thus need to refrain from talking about anything beyond the current episode. She does not mind comparing these scenes with those from the books. But, she does not want to hear about future episodes or seasons or character arcs. As you have seen, she definitely is too smart for her own good, so please do not add a lot of backstories. Allow the story to unfold for her the same way that it did for us. She will easily pick up the story without too much help. Thank you for your cooperation! 😊

your reaction to the ending matches Catleyn's from the book, that chapter was from her perspective and I read it a long time ago but I think she thought to herself something like: "I dont know what was more satisfying, the sound of a dozen swords being drawn in unison or the look on the dwarf's face"

You said "I can't tell what I liked more: her speech or the sound of the swords being drawn or Tyrion's 'I'm fucked' face" and this is very similar to what Catelyn is thinking in the books... Ser Jorah first appeared at Daenerys' wedding with presents and took the occasion to tell Viserys he hoped to "serve the rightful king". In the next episode, both had a short conversation about Jorah being exiled and Viserys assured him he would be welcome "under his reign". So they didn't know each other but Jorah sees a chance of going back home with the Targaryens and tells Daenerys that's what he prays for. It doesn't seem like he knows Drogo but he knows a lot about the Dothraki and speaks some of the language.

So to clear some things up catelyn is from the riverlands and her father is the lord of paramount of the riverlands/trident and ned is the lord paramount of the north so they are more or less equals P.s. a lot of people get confused about the provinces or the kingdoms as there are 9 provinces in Westeros but they refer to them as seven kingdoms beacause when targaryens conquered Westeros there were 7 kingdoms instead of nine, but why that's the case isn't really important right now but stuff like that which fills in the blanks can be found in the game of thrones history and lore videos that you can watch after each seasons if you're interested, you don't have to react to them but i would highly recommend checking them out after each seasons atleast in your own time

The thing that gets me about the scene with Littlefinger telling Sansa the story of the hound is that it doesn't make sense for him to be the one to tell her. One of the scenes from the book that I miss the most, is the feast after the tourney where Joffrey makes up with Sansa (instead of that random awkward necklace scene later on), plus there's a bit with Robert making a drunken scene and you get to see that even though Joffrey is an evil piece of work he clearly has issues in relation to his "father". BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, he sends the hound to escort Sansa home and HE tells her the story of what his brother did to him. It's such a touching and vulnerable scene for the hound and Sansa and I really feel like we were utterly robbed of it.

Catelyn is sorta damned if she does, damned if she doesn't, once Tyrion has spotted her. If she doesn't, Tyrion can return to King's Landing to alert his siblings to the Starks being on to them. If she seizes him, they will also be alerted and she will be provoking the Lannisters further, but she will also have a hostage. And she will have the man she believes tried to kill her child. She had to make a quick decision, and time will show you where it leads.

1) Catelyn is not from the North. House Tully are the lords of the Riverlands, one of the seven kingdoms that make up Westeros. Riverlands is in the center of the continent, making it a very strategically important kingdom. The houses she was naming were the lesser houses of the Riverlands, not Northern houses. 2) Jaime has a really good relationship with Tyrion. This is something that is told to the reader from the very beginning of the books, so it's not a spoiler. If that's the case, it's a bit suspicious that Jaime would try to frame Tyrion. Maybe that dagger isn't Tyrion's dagger at all? 3) The Wall doesn't have a choice in accepting criminals. That decision lies with the Crown. Modern prison system where you can serve lengthy sentences didn't exist in this age, so the wall became a perfect place to exile criminals. 4) Correct. They Greyjoy rebellion happened AFTER Robert's Rebellion. The onpy difference is that Robert succeeded and took the throne. While Greyjoy failed.

Yes, Dany doing her best Xena the Warrior Princess impression might have the most Yass Queen worthy moments, they're also pretty trivial compared to the rest of the episode. What the show does well is givr you important info in the most innocuous conversations, without narrating a single thing. Like that talk between Jon and Sam. So when they go into these backstories, try to keep a bit a those. When the Septa quizzes Sansa about the Iron Throne in this episode for example, those things are being told for a reason.

@@НикитаСимонян-ж5е I don't remember the show ever explicitly revealing it. It was speculated in the show that maybe it was Littlefinger, but they never outright accused him of sending an assassin after Bran. They only accused him of lying that he lost that dagger to Tyrion. The show still never was clear if it actually was little finger or Joffrey like in the books. According to the wiki: It is unknown why the TV series never reveals that it was Joffrey who sent the assassin; Joffrey receives the Valyrian steel sword Widow's Wail as a wedding gift in Season 4, as he did in the books, but no mention is made of the assassination attempt on Bran back in Season 1. It is possible that the reason is the same for not revealing the truth about Tysha in the Season 4 finale: the producers grew afraid that casual viewers wouldn't remember that this happened in early Season 1 - even though this was one of the escalating events which sparked the entire Stark-Lannister conflict. Alternatively, the producers may have deviated from the books and changed the catspaw in the show, particularly with the revelation in the season 7 finale which suspected that Littlefinger was behind the attempt. It says suspected, not revealed. So they never actually give us an answer.

@@SoFieReactsTV Queen Cersei is my favorite character in this entire show. The fans of this show like to see her as a straight up villain, but I think that is a mistake. She is so much more complex than that. Right here she’s showing remorse and she feels guilty for hurting a child. And yes she panicked when Bran saw them, but that’s understandable. If word got out as to what he saw then doing they would both die. And if you really think about it she doesn’t tell Jaime what to do. She doesn’t say push him, or kill him. She is just nervous saying he saw us then Jaime acted 100% on he’s own. And even he acknowledges the fact that what he’s doing is wrong by saying “the things we do for love.” Meaning he knows pushing a boy off a tower window is wrong but he is willing to do it for he’s loved one. I would suggest going forward to listen to WHY characters do things. Not just watch WHAT they do.

"Oh, my sweet summer child. What do you know about fear? Fear is for the winter when the snows fall a hundred feet deep. Fear is for the the long nights when the sun hides for years, and children are born and live and die, all in darkness. That is the time for fear, my little lord; when the white walkers move through the woods. Thousands of years ago there came a night that lasted a generation. Kings froze to death in their castles, same as the shepherds in their huts, and women smothered their babies rather than see them starve, and wept and felt their tears freeze on their cheeks. So is this the sort of story that you like? In that darkness the white walkers came for the first time. They swept through cities and kingdoms, riding their dead horses, hunting with their packs of pale spiders big as hounds..." - Old Nan

House Tully, the house that Catleyn is from, is not in the North but in the region known as the Riverlands. Here's the link to the map of Westros and Essos www.sermountaingoat.co.uk/map/map.php If Obi-Wan Kenobi was sitting next to you in the outro, he would say, "Your instincts serve you well."

So you raised the question of whether or not it's possible that Joffrey is not Robert's son. And then you acknowledged that we shouldn't assume Robert can't have a blond child. Wow. Really good job sorting the information. I'm pretty sure this isn't spoilery at this point... especially since you've seen up to episode 6.

Hearing you talk about how the dragons got smaller and disappeared, it occurred to me that was maybe symbolic of the regime change (since it's the sigil of House Targaryen) which is such a very cool decision for George R.R. Martin to make (I'm assuming that fact about the dragons is the same in the books since I haven't read them yet, oops!) And the fact that a Dire Wolf was found south of the wall at the beginning of these stories centering around the Starks (whose sigil is the wolf) presents a really cool parallel, I think. In that vein, I also feel like the eggs sort of symbolize the hope Daenarys feels for the possibility of a Targaryen uprising. Whether anything comes of that remains to be seen at this point in the story, but I really like the way that all fits together and how well thought out it all seems! Can't believe I never noticed that before! 😂😅

Ugh, I hate that they made Littlefinger tell Sansa the story of the Hound. In the books, the Hound tells Sansa while escorting her from a feast, and it is one of my favourite passages in the series. Sansa tries not to look at his horrific scars because it's impolite, and a proper lady would not notice. The Hound forces her to look at his face, which frightens her, and tells her how he got those scars. He just wanted to play with his brother's toy knight, and his brother mutilated him for it. They lied about how he was scarred, and later his brother was made a knight. The Hound was once a child with naive, idealistic ideas of knighthood like Sansa. He chooses to tell her his hidden story, seemingly to get her to drop that idealism and join the club of cynics. Only, he actually becomes emotional when telling her, really opening up in a way I don't think he has ever done with anyone before. And then this beautiful thing happens: "The rasping voice trailed off. He squatted silently before her, a hulking black shape shrouded in the night, hidden from her eyes. Sansa could hear his ragged breathing. She was sad for him, she realised. Somehow, the fear had gone away. The silence went on and on, so long that she began to grow afraid once more, but she was afraid for him now, not for herself. She found his massive shoulder with her hand. "He was no true knight" she whispered to him." Sansa shows him compassion. And rather than completely rejecting the idea of knights like The Hound has, Sansa instead maintains the ideal of knights, "true knights". Maybe (most) knights aren't like the knights of the songs, but they ought to at least try to be.

Little bit of lore to answer your ‘dragons blood’ question, it’s a little ambiguous. Back in the original lands of Valyria (the land of Dany’s ancestors) the Valyrians would force animals to mate with humans in blood magic rituals, so it is entirely possible the original descendants way back when did in fact mate in some way or do some kind of blood magic with dragons. This is the reason for the inbreeding amongst the Valyrians, for they wished to ‘keep bloodlines pure’ in order to maintain the blood magic control they have over dragons. So did they mate with dragons? Do a blood magic spell? Or just innately have special blood? It’s unknown, just like our real world myths. It’s fun to think about though! A lot of theories are out there from fans.

It's also speculated that Dragons were kind of sort of "genetically engendered" magically by crossing Firewyrms and Wyverns. Which is also an interesting idea. I can understand the inbreeding of the Targaryens because they were the last dragon riders. But why was it a Valyrian custom? Couldn't they just marry and reproduce with other members of dragon rider family's? They obviously didn't, so I'm sure there were political reasons if anything. But it still doesn't entirely make sense to me.
@NotoriousMinion

@@ARareBreedStory Valyria was ruled by the 40 families, who’s brand of politics would put all of Westerosi backstabbing to shame. They were constantly murdering, plotting, and using magic to undermine and destroy one another. I’m sure they could breed with others if they wanted too, but I’m also sure that their families would have no qualms about murdering their own if they should step out of line. It’s entirely possible also that simply through there being absolutely no stigma against inbreeding that the thought of marrying outside the family simply never occurred. The moral psychology around the feeling of ‘disgust’ is quite interesting, as it’s almost ENTIRELY a product of the conditioning you receive. Check out psychologist Jonathon Haidt for more on that. But in essence, if there was never the moral psychological notion of ‘disgust’ attached to inbreeding, then having to justify it or think twice about it could simply never have happened. It’s quite fascinating from the psychological perspective.

@@ARareBreedStory Their magical blood did offer some protection, as is noted how they were all ‘fair’ in appearances and never got sick or suffered from any other diseases, but were their deformities and instabilities caused from the inbreeding itself or the presence of magical blood? I’ve heard it argued that the madness associated with the Targaryens is not a product of nature but nurture. Viserys being sheltered and lied during his life, Baelor just being extremely zealous in his beliefs, Aerys maybe being whispered too by Bloodraven. I’m not really sure what to make of this particular argument, but I do find it fascinating and it would require a radical shift in perspective regarding Valyrian blood. As for common knowledge in the freehold, it’s hard to say. The Valyrians kept their cards close to their chest, especially if you accept the Westerland’s gold plus Daenerys the Dreamer conspiracy that perhaps caused the doom. It would indicate that these Valyrians were more interested in destroying each other than actually sharing information that would be beneficial for others. So for how common certain beneficial knowledge was across the freehold is uncertain, at least in my eyes. Are you referring to the Targaryens having trouble reproducing before or after the Doom? I would assume you mean after, and that could be for many other reasons other than inbreeding. For instance the decline of magic in the west, the extinction of dragons in the west for which they share blood, the Doom itself having a sort of Butterfly Effect, or something else. As for this presenting a volatile situation politically, I think that was kind of the whole point of the Valyrians. Mining the Fourteen Flames endlessly with slaves and blood magic, conquest of half of Essos, extreme decadence and debauchery and danger, they ruled through Fire and Blood as the Targaryen words go. In the end, it wasn’t sustainable at all. However being the only people with a certain magic and dragons kinda lets you get far. It’d be like idiots having nukes back in the Middle Ages. While they may be idiots, the mere fact of having technology so beyond any of the time simply makes you the leader. Might makes right, for a good while. Especially in an age of technological stagnation and hoarding, in which the Valyrians were the sole owners of this type of technology.
