Hi everyone, Aaron here, one of Robert's (relate2) sons.
Some of you may or may not know that Dad sadly past away on the 14th August 2013 after a short battle with Cancer.
As part of his service we played a tribute video of some of the moments from Dad's life and at the end included some footage of him flying and giving his thoughts on what it felt like for him to hang glide - to look out the window from his 'loungeroom in the air'
Since he was such a prolific poster of his flights to his KZbin channel we thought it would be the perfect place to share this video.
This will be the last post for Relate2 although we will keep his videos up for as long as KZbin will let us.
Take care,
Aaron

hey dad, just wanted to say that i miss you. so much, i speak with families every day. and having lost you nearly 4 years ago is where my passion comes from to try and educate the importance of time with the people you love is. even though we couldnt guarentee the time we had together, at least we made it QUALITY time. from building billycarts, to going to the park i just wish i had more time... i think of you daily and writing this msg somehow i know you will get it. i love you dad. and i know your not far away. xo trav

Hey guys, Aaron here, Rob's son. It's been 12 months today since Dad past and I just wanted to let you know that I do drop by here every now and then and read the comments, it's good to see that people are still enjoying his legacy even after he has gone. btw, one thing I forgot to mention when I first uploaded this video is that if you didn't want to sit through all of our family photos, lol, you can jump to 3:49 where I included one of my favourite clips of Dad's flights. Take care & fly safe. :-)

Hi, I never had the pleasure of knowing Robert but his infectious love for hang gliding has inspired me to take up the sport. His life looks like one well lived which is all any of us can ever hope for. Thanks for celebrating his life in this way, kind regards Glenn

Sincere condolences to you, Aaron, and the rest of the family; - as a subscriber to your dad's 'Relate2' channel I had missed notification of any recent Y.T. videos, was devastated to see posting of the sad news of Robert's passing. Always thoroughly enjoyed Robert's videos and his intelligent commentary - he was a great ambassador for the sport and his beloved Stanwell! Fly high, Fly far, old friend.

Being a 3 axis pilot in the past I haven't flown for some year's, so I have been thinking about taking up hang gliding. so I come on to KZbin to watch some videos on it and the first one I see is one of Roberts, only to scroll down to the comments and learn of his passing. Not only was I shocked but shattered here is a man I don't even know that touched me with his Inspiration and passion for flying and life. Then coming over to watch this video his love for his family. As the old saying goes only the good die young and Robert you were way to young. R.I.P buddy I hope you have your wings out soaring the clouds above the clouds.

Robert and his videos were a great inspiration to me when I started hang gliding. He and I exchanged numerous PMs about flying and I hoped to someday get the chance to fly Stanwell with him. Fly High Brother!

This makes me so sad. Roberts channel was one of the first hanggliding-channel I subscribed to. He made hang gliding seem so easy and his obligatory "beautiful!" always made me glad. RIP Robert and sorry for your loss Aaron. :/

Hi Aaron I'm so sorry for your loss. Robert was a great contributor to the Cyberlink forum and I thoroughly enjoyed his valuable banter and logically input. We exchanged many messages over the short time I knew him. Mine to him were "you're mad". Him to me were "so are you for not trying hang gliding!" My sincere condolences to your family, Robert was obviously a very much loved and respected member of the community. A great tribute video - well done. Neil

I'm sorry for the loss of your father. I loved watching his videos and enjoyed hearing him share his feelings and emotions of each flight. I mentioned to him that he's blessed to live in a beautiful part of the world and that his videos were much appreciated during our cold Canadian winters. He will be missed; take care and thank you for posting. Paul

Thanks for posting the video. I admired Robert from the first video I watched of him flying. I have enjoyed all his videos and was a subscriber of his. I promised myself that I would visit Austria and fly Stanwell before I get to old to hang glide. I so hoped to meet him in person. I know it must be tough times for your family. You're in our prayers. Richard

I really enjoyed following this channel and when it didn’t put out new videos, years ago, I thought this creator may have aged out of the sport or life itself. Still I’m glad the channel is still up for people to see. He knew how to create good videos.

Thank you for posting this. I'm sincerely sorry for your loss. I subscribed to and always enjoyed his videos. I don't think I've met a more down to earth man who flew the skies. I wish you and your family peace during this difficult time. One day I will get to fly Stanwell and when I do I will think of Relate2.

Very sad to hear! It always hits me hard when I have to find out that the reason no more videos are released by a channel is that the owner is not with us anymore. I'll miss Robert's in-flight commentary, his calm presence. He kept reminding us that life is all about doing what you love by actually going out there and following his passion. I'm thankful for that and will do my best to follow his footsteps in that regard. My most sincere condolences!
