Tower of glass is astounding! I've read it recently and it's really good. Every Silverberg that I've read has been awesome.

I love Robert Silverberg... almost as much as I adore the incomparable Ray Bradbury. You have an awesome demeanor and a calm, relaxing presentation style that make your videos a real treat to watch over a cup of tea (or several). Keep up the good work!

I thought I’d read Robert Silverberg, but I had him mixed up with Robert Sheckley. Happily, I now have a new old SciFi writer to read! P.S. I wrote my favorite SciFi writer, Clifford Simak (third SFWA Grandmaster), back in 1985. But it wasn’t the typical “I love your work” type of letter. Instead, I analyzed my favorite novelette of his, *THE BIG FRONT YARD,* and told him exactly what it meant to me. He, too, wrote me back, a three-page handwritten letter in which he told me that out of all the SF critics and historians who had written about *TBFY,* I was the first and only one who had put my finger unerringly on what he had tried so hard to say. Wow, right?

You should do a video and present your analysis of THE BIG FRONT YARD. I would love to see that!

The Book of Skulls truly sucked me into the world of literature. I have never read something so incredible in my life. Mad respect to Mr. Silverberg. Dying Inside was great too.

My favorite science fiction writer of all time. It's hard to think of another science fiction writer so prolific and so excellent.

I enjoyed the Majipoor Chronicles series, a blend of SciFi and fantasy. Silverberg is also one of the most distinguished SciFi editors of all time. In 1965, to commemorate the establishment of the Science Fiction Writers of America and the Nebula Award, he was commissioned to edit an anthology of the best short science fiction stories from the early days to 1965. The resulting volume, called "The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume I" is simply outstanding. Since then he's edited dozens of collections, and won many awards. He's a tremendous and under-appreciated writer. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and recommendations of Silverberg. I loved 'Nightwings', and 'Dying Inside' was so profoundly good. You've inspired me to dig deeper into the Silverberg catalog!

For me Dying Inside was a story of unimaginable loss and how the protagonist had to learn to first accept the fact of the situation then how to survive a future where he has been crippled beyond his ability to fully comprehend.

My favorite Silverberg books would be Up The Line, Dying Inside and The Book of Skulls. Great writing and stories. You mentioned a few I haven't read, so I will need to look for those.

I share your passion for Silverberg - the only Grand Master of Sci Fi with such a huge love for history and literature (especially from ancient Greece and Rome). When I read Dying Inside, about 15 years ago, it hit me like a truck. I’ve never read anything like it. I’m now reading “Roma Eterna”, a seriously under-estimated book of alternative history. It’s a magnificent work, extremely well-researched, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves Silverberg.

Superb video and thoughts. I am ashamed to admit I wasn't aware of much of his work until I picked up "In Another Country" recently. I'm definitely going to check out more from the Silverberg vault. Thanks for the recommendations and that is so cool how he wrote you back.

I read Lord Valentine's Castle when I was a teenager, and it's stuck with me. "The Silverbergian Flow' concept which you said suddenly explained why I had always remembered that novel. I ordered The Book Of Skulls based on your recommendation. Thanks dude!

I read "The Collected Stories of Robert Silverberg" several years ago and was greatly impressed. Silverberg has won many awards, but it seems to me he is not as well-known as he should be.

I've read "Nightwings" twice, it's one of his best novels/pieces, but I wasn't so keen on "A Time of Changes", which didn't seem to have enough story and was just like an internal monologue, despite the fact that it was very well written. I've also read "The Book of Skulls", which is a very smoothly prosed novel, and "Dying Inside" was the first one I ever read by him, although it was very many years ago now. I remember finding it mesmerising, one I could really read. I've also read "Passengers", which is very good.

I only have read Hawksbill station and that was the reason why I bought on flea markets A time for changes and Nightwings (currently reading). I have tried to find Dying inside but that book eludes me, someone is always two steps ahead of me lol. Probably his most famous book here (Latin America and the "easiest" to find). The real problem for me is that translations are not made for several scifi authors anymore, or some books are not printed anymore. Harlan Ellison is another one, I only have read A boy and his dog and also, few short stories. There is the option of PDf but then again, it´s not the same having a book than cooking your eyes on a computer or any digital device. Never imagined a Botero´s painting on a Sïlverberg´s book cover

Nice video. Love Silverberg! Nightwings one of my faves. I also loved Face of the waters. Love his books for their characterisation and worlds rather than his science. Was thinking of emailing Silverberg so I might since he replied to you. Have you read Haruki Murakami? Another great writer. 1Q84, Kafka on the shore and Windup bird chronicle are great. Greetings from Australia. Thanks!

I found Silverberg first in a used bookstore in 1991. He is one of my top three writers of all time. I don't usually read sci fi . One book that impressed me greatly is THE LORD OF DARKNESS, which isn't even sci fi . It must have taken an enormous amount of time to research. Funny thing is he wrote a very poor and immature book in the sixties about pirates before THE LORD OF DARKNESS. Maybe he needed the money. I felt THE LORD OF... definitely redeemed him!

Great video! Can you help me? I'm trying to think of the title of a book (I'm sure it's Silverberg) where, in part of the story, stars and nebulas are actual characters in the story. Do you know that one, please?
