This is the best performance of this song that I've ever heard. My wife hates this song, but she got goose bumps because he's so great! Also, when my daughter was 3 years old, she sang this song on the tram at the New York Botanical Gardens on the coldest day of the year. People were in stiches........

Not the best performance I've ever heard, but you can hear the echoes of the best performance from here. One of the more famous Porgys that did Porgy and Bess also did this, and I was captivated. Copland's reputation grows larger and larger to me as time goes on

Oh my god yes, I've seen too many people try to do this in an all too serious demeanor. Yes, classical composers did write nonsense songs and you're allowed to (supposed to) make them funny. This guy is like if Michael Winslow were also a trained classical singer, just fantastic.

This song has been running through my mind for two days, so I am glad I found it here! We learned this song in elementary school music class, in the 1960's. Wonderful! It's a good memory tool for children.
