Robert Thurman is recognized worldwide as an authority on religion, spirituality, Asian history, world philosophy, Tibetan Buddhism, and the history of the Dalai Lamas. He was named Time magazine's 25 most influential Americans and has been profiled by such as The New York Times and People Magazine.
Thurman is the Jey Tsong Khapa Professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University. Upon H.H. Dalai Lama's request, he co-founded the American Institute of Buddhist Studies in order to translate the Tibetan Tengyur collection which is currently being published volume by volume with Columia University Press; The Treasury of The Buddhist Sciences.
Robert Thurman is the translator of key Sanskrit and Tibetan works such as, The Vimalakirti Sutra, The Tibetan Book of the Dead, The Central Philosophy of Tibet, The Brilliant Illumination of the Lamp and many many more.
