This is incredible, two AMAZING voices. They don't do duets like this anymore. Wish I could've been there. ♥️ 🇦🇺

BlackStarPower911 Yes, it would be, but who would play Donny?
@Useyno6 жыл бұрын
HoneyHoneyBaby Most definitely it would be great, and I think someone like Idris Elba could pull it off, if not maybe a Taylor Diggs if he puts on a little weight but most definitely Idris Elba

Leslie Odom Jr. He's 36. Donny was 33 when he passed. He's same complexion and can act and ding his butt off

Thank you so much for sharing this. I have been longing to see, hear and feel Donny Hathaway as I never had the opportunity to see him perform live. If I am not mistaken , there is not a lot of footage of his performances. So again , I thank you. Perhaps this can give the current generation inspiration on singing in whole notes, and bending notes for accent and improvisational acrobats. In other words in tune!!!

you're welcome. there are a few TV appearances (Flip Wilson, Soul!, Grammys) but to knowledge, this is the only video recording of him and Roberta Flack performing together in a concert setting. There are rumors that a live album was recorded from this show. If so, It would be great if someone cold restore the film to its full length and remix the audio.

Donny Hathaway such a great loss, he was the greatest then and now at least these are my thoughts the greatest male vocalist there ever was. I've heard a lot of male singers and non e could and can compare, this man was the greatest. Just my thoughts only. And Aretha Franklin well you all can tell where I'm going with this, she's the greatest female singer, again just my thoughts only. We all have our likes and dislikes.

@@reelblack Hey Reelback, Donny performed " For all we know" on the same pisode of Flip wilson were he sang "Put your hand in the hand". He did a episode of a 1972 Pbs show called "Vibrations" He also guest starred with Roberta Flack on a Bill Cosby tv show. In 1972. He also peformed on Johnmy Carsons tonight show. It would be enough footage for Rhino records or the Reeling in the years company to put a DVD collection together. I actually saw a little clip on a Atlantic records anniversary special footage of Donny in the studio with Arif Mardin

Donny's voice is 🔥 that tone man,you can't teach that. Love Roberta too but she was taking up entirely too much of his time,tbh, but do you have the second half to this performance?

Im glad you enjoyed. not sure what more you want. it was a half hour tv special. there are end credits. the outtakes are in a vault or dumped in the river.

Aretha Franklin's "Baby I Love You" done country western style. Why would they do such a classic song in that genre? It seemed sacrilegious, I didn't like it.

That's what made it so hot. Two soul singers showing versatility. And their harmony was spot on.

I didn't like this that much. Donny Hathaway was only on parts of this long film. Roberta Flack took too much time during this performance. Had she not done so, we all would've witnessed more DONNY'S treasured music. That's a damn shame. RIP Donny Hathaway.
