Holy crap after hours watching other videos and fumbling at 3 am with my back hurting . They never mentioned the posts to assist positioning of the belt and 3 mins after your video I'm already done. You are awesome.

Like everyone else says....Briliant, brilliant instructional video. My TC-A790 deck (part of a LBT-A795 system) uses exactly the same cassette drive assembly. I ended up going a little further and removing the motors from the plastic base plane so I could get all the old rubber mush out off the motor spindles. Changing the belts was the easy part.... Once again, well done and thanks.

Thanks for the video. I had a similar problem with melted belts on TEAC 3440 which is where I learned that alcohol wipes are your best friend when cleaning the pulleys. My Sony we635 belts are on the way. Thanks to this video I'm prepared. I think all of these units, regardless of name brand, used the same off the shelf transport system. Like every VHS on the planet running off the Matsushita drive🤣

Would you happen to know what is causing my deck to snap tapes? Could it be old pinch rollers?

I have a Pioneer Cassette deck that had melted belts. I got everything cleaned up but the pully on the drive motor. Since the drive motor pully was brass, I used Acetone on the pully, and it removed the melted belt sludge no problem. But be careful with Acetone around plastic as it can melt plastic.

Hola.

Looks pretty general for Sony decks; I just got a TC-W490 and it looks almost identical inside, including the goopified belts :(

I have found out something. My Sony Cassette deck TC RX 311 was making a screeching noise during operation. Thinking it was a slipping belt; I replaced the belts. However, the screeching noise continued. Thinking it may be a dry bearing I used a small screwdriver dipped in Tri flow oil and lubricated the drive motor bearing at the shaft making sure not to lubricate the belt and cause slippage. The result was quiet operation. Seems the motor bearings dried out its oil over the years. I would guess the outboard bearing had more side load than the inboard bearing. I am not sure how to access the inboard motor bearing to lubricate it as the motor housing appears to be sealed. But for now, it is quiet and smooth operation.😊

FYI my belts disintegrated as well on Sony MHC-3600, all pulleys can be taken a part with ease by prying them up gently, which would make easier to clean them

I did everything right 3 times and everything is perfect but with the same issue in each trial: the tape desk makes strange noise and it thinks that a tape is already in there and locks the eject buttons for both desck 😮 What's want wrong? Please advise

luckily i got my belts well over a year ago from eBay probably but i forget now...anyway...my Sony TC-W435 was as gooey as the one in the video...i cleaned mine with Isopropyl Alcohol for like an hour or so...i got both decks to only slight black stains but it was sticky free...looks like melted Liquorice...anyway...did my Kenwood twin deck that week too...one deck on the Sony still has a fault...maybe i didn't get all the goo...may be a smear deep in the pulley causing problem...its my backup Cassette for a few years to come

pushing Play , doesn't spin that motor on mine with a broken gummed up belt ,,,,, why?

Could be an electrical problem. Motor died or something like that.
