My dad was 16 when he first heard a pulse jet engine. It was fitted to a German doodlebug, which landed and exploded not far from him; whilst he was cleaning the windows of the house he was living in. The blast shattered the window he was cleaning; and cut his thumb. He claimed it as his war wound; since it was caused by enemy action. He later joined the Tank Regiment; and survived the war. He died aged 92. He would have loved to see a peaceful use for a pulse jet engine such as this!

Man I remember way back when this guy was making pulse jet motors on his website in the early 2000's, some of his work was discussed on a potato gun forum (Spudfiles if anyone is interested, it's a wealth of knowledge for anything operated by pneumatic or combustion pressure) I used to moderate, it's pretty cool being able to see this 20-some years later and realize he's the badass dude we all thought he was back then😂, he was kind of a legend in our community lol.

Which tube does the thrust come from? The hooked long tapered one or the nozzle with the chamber?

In these valveless pulsejets, the long end is the main exhaust. The short end will alternate (very quickly) betwween exhaust and intake. It's still good for more than 1/3 of the total thrust. Which is why both ends are aimed to the rear.
