En effet cette version est la plus séduisante de toutes celles que j'ai entendu ici, car la voix est belle, la diction impeccable, l'émotion palpable. Oui assurément, Roberto Alagna est sans doute le plus grand ténor français, et actuellement l'un des plus grands du monde.Il défend comme nul autre le répertoire français à l'étranger. Ceci dit; il faut aussi avoir entendu cet air chanté par César Vezzani.Dans les années 30 les les voix n'étaient pas mises en valeur, et pourtant quelle splendeur.

I must confess that I am not an avid fan of this tenor, but whenever I listen to this particular recording I am brought to tears by the expressiveness and beauty of the singing. This is surely one of the most touching versions of this aria.

Je ne suis pas un très grand fan d'Alagna, mais dans le répertoire romantique français je trouve qu'il excelle. Les phrasés sont souples tout en restant scrupuleux par rapport à la partition. Très expressif et très intelligent.

Il est vraiment le digne successeur de Georges Thill, même s'il ne faut pas oublier l'exratordianire Alain Vanzo. Ils ont tous deux une diction irréprochable avec une justesse vocale exceptionnelle.

This is the only aria for tenor which subsisted of the opera " Le roi d'Ys", written by Lalo in the 1880's. The melody is passionated without excess, the orchestration is very delicate. Roberto Alagna gives to us a sensitive interpretation, without spectacular voice excess.

Merci pour cette vidéo. J'ai écouté de multiples versions de cette très charmante mémodie, et je désespérais de ne pas trouver de version vraiment satisfaisante. C'est fait, c'est incontestablement celle que je préfère, et de loin. Tout d'abord la diction parfaite, le soufle qui semble sans fin, et la beauté du timbre m'ont véritablement conquis. A perfectly French voice for a French aria....toss up with Simoneu , but I think Alagna just has it because of that touch of Thil type darkness under the silvery lightness....perfect...and I do like the way he takes the final top A forte, if it was blasted it would be horrid but of course it's well controlled and sweet toned! :-)

Just heard this aria for the first time on this birthday of Edouard Lalo sung magically and with such crystal beauty by Roberto Alagna on WRTI in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). What a gorgeous piece. I posted it on my FB page in honor of the composer's special day which he shares, unfortunately, with the immortal Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
