Roberts Sports DAB6 / FM Radio

I bought this DAB/FM radio mostly for listening to sports when I am out walking and for listening to on night shufts at work. I mainly listen to sports or news and some of the stations are only on DAB. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on this one and of course it was the most expensive. I am really happy with it though,it's small enough to fit in a pocket and is great to look at and the sound out of the small speaker on the front is good. The instruction manual is an easy read and covers everything on how to get the best out of the radio. I forgot to mention in my video that the LCD screen can be dimmed or even go off on a timer, also the radio itself can be set to shut down at a chosen time. I had to charge the radio before i used it,there was a small bit of power in the lithium battery but I charged it anyway which took about an hour. The radio scanned for stations as soon as I turned it on and it found 55 for my area but another scan in another area might show more. I then set up my first 5 presets and I found it quite easy to do by pressing in the jog wheel on the side,this wheel is used for all the functions apart from volume. The sound with headhones is fantastic and Ive also used a portable speaker instead of headphones and this alo gave fantastic sound.
Overall I am very happy indeed with my DAB radio, I no longer have to put up with breaks in the signal when using the radio on my phone. FM is also very good however the antenna is quite flimsy but I will be using DAB the majority of the time anyway.

I've had one for some years. A fantastic little DAB and very useable through the internal speaker. The sound quality is superb through the earphones and the display is clear and bright. I take mine when I'm travelling about. You just scan local channels to where you are. Very good battery life...15+ hours when using through the speaker and quite a bit longer through the earphones. He quotes 5 hours. That's wrong. Also, you can't take the battery out.

im a radiophile, im 57 years old and this almost is the finest radio i ever bought! 1st thing to do is to throw away the handbook. then plug it into a portable Bose speaker and enjoy the thing! had mine for more than a year, it goes everywhere with mr. FM or DAB, brilliant piece of Tec.

Another option is very a smart phone, load the VRadio app, world wide station with ability to record.

I bought the original one of these in about 2008 and it still works fine except for one thing. It will not charge the battery fully, only to 1, sometimes 2 bars not the 3 it used to. Have you had this problem?

@@mariumrajah How? It's rechargeable. The battery isn't supposed to be user serviceable. There are no instructions I can see anywhere on the internet & Roberts don't repair these anymore.

The SportsDAB 5 is still on sale (there are quite a few differences but probably the main ones are the lack of a speaker - earphones only - no telescopical aerial and the use of AA batteries instead of an internal battery with USB charging). The 6 looks rather nicer visually, I must say, which I'd had a chance to try one.
