So he had a “real” emergency because his mom was in the hospital, so he packed at the last minute in a panic, right? And packed a MESH SHIRT, PLEATHER PANTS AND SUNGLASSES to go visit his mom in the hospital!?!? Sure, Andrew. I think the new artist was confused when the bride first messaged her because she introduced herself as the “bride you’re doing makeup for today”, when the original artist just told her “makeup for a girl tmr at 12”. someone more professional would have notified her that it was for a wedding, so I imagine she was confused just getting a message from a bride out of nowhere. especially when the other artist said he would put them in a group chat together!
@VeronicaSparkАй бұрын
Exactly what I though. Makeup for a regular client vs. makeup for a bride are not the same thing. I remember my stylist and MUA referring to her bookings as "I have a bride on/ at..." rather than "a client" to highlight the difference. It's not just the cost, it's the time as well... Bridal bookings are their own thing.

By and large, the people who make these claims to minimize whatever criticisms they're getting are the ones with the audiences most likely to send people death threats over petty shit. I'm not saying his audience is like that, but I would be zero percent surprised if they were. Like, I know so many queer and feminist youtubers who get death threats daily, and have never once dragged them out in videos for pity points. But somehow the people who do that kind of thing seemingly never have any proof. Ever. Puh-leeze.

I thought you had to establish yourself as a name, not just luck into a few clients. To me, Robert is a celebrity MUA within the social media market & I assume he’s more widely known in the UK now, because of his own reputation not his former client list. but I guess I’m using the phrase wrong lol. I want content from a MUA who doesn’t need their client list to impress us. That’s so weird and LinkedIn-ish ewww. Do it like two weeks before so any impurities that show up (that often happens) have time to go away. It's a stressful time anyway, so give yourself plenty of time for the pampering. For my own wedding I planned it with a home facial a couple of weeks early and then the week of I was doing spray tan, nails and lashes. About three-four ish days before the wedding. I look at my eye makeup in 2021 - when I told myself I guess I’d never get eye shading/smoking or coverage complexion right & that some people can’t ever do it. Ha! I do need to tweak the usual technique but because Robert teaches theory, I’ve learned how to create custom techniques for myself. If you have joined up since he pulled back on tutorials, I would highly recommend them. My finished look is very very different but I can now adapt his looks to my squinty, shaded, hooded eyes on a very thin, structural face (think kackie minus 20 lbs - very architectural, very masculine- btw kackie & I talked in her comments when Dutch viewers very bluntly assumed she was trans, I’m not insulting her bone structure, we just have the same kind of face…we’re cis but no one told our faces 😂 we both agree at least we get lumped in with a generally very cool group of gals) - and I feel great and get compliments. Whats interesting is i provided post op care services years ago and people would no show and i would allow them to rebook, when i finally started putting my foot down and charged them late fees and not giving refunds based on them being upset about whatever the circumstances, some of them literally made death threats, one came to my mothers house and another filed a bbb report which was resolved in my favor. Some people just dont understand how to communicate, how to respect terms and even customers make grave errors. I personally dont want to be in that business anymore. I was so traumatized and was pushed into a corner to do things and give so many chances just to have women verbally abuse me etc. of course not all of them were like this but most of them were.

Off-topic: It took me a minute to realise what was bugging me (4.42). It was the "celebrity makeup artist". I don't know why that matters. That was it. It sure matters to some people. But here is my thinking: if the person is good at what they do and I can be sure I'm getting good service, I pay. The person didn't get to be good by chance. It took work and practice. She's paying for the person's experience in the business.

I don’t 100% understand your comment perhaps I’m reading it wrong 😂 but also, it’s completely on topic! I have to say though.. as someone who worked in the industry for many years… a lot of people did infact get their experiences and job roles through… knowing the right person. A lot of time, I can safely say it definitely wasn’t their skill. Not everyone of course but I knew people doing cover shoots who didn’t know what a primary colour was..

Back in the day when I did bridal makeup, I had a bride that I'd done the rehearsal with, and because her chosen colours were so unusual, I'd mixed custom colours for. When I got there, not only had she changed her mind about the colours and wanted something more neutral, she wanted her six very young flower girls making up a bit, too. I was a little bit irked, but I didn't show it. I just adapted what I did. Honestly, the joy I got from making the little girls up was just immense! They were so thrilled to be grown up girls! I got the custom colours in as eyeliner on the bride, and her mum gave me an extra £100 for the time i took, and for making them all feel 'super weddingy'. It was a lovely day.

When I married we were both still in Uni, so no great budget. I did the hair and make up myself (and rode to city hall in a cable car 😂) Also, a friend of mine had her make up done professionally for her wedding and while she looked great she didn't look like herself. So I didn't put so much value on and trust in having my make up done. My sis is not good with hair and make up. 😅 So I offered to do it for her. We got some ideas off of Pinterest, had a trial and she was super happy with it, so we went for it. It kind of added to the emotionality of the day for me, to help her get ready ❤😊

As someone who used to NEVER wear makeup, like until I graduated college, I want to throw my two cents in behind having two trials for bridal makeup for another reason-getting used to seeing your own face in full makeup! I had my makeup done professionally to attend one of my best friends’s wedding and I felt awful and like a clown afterwards, but everyone loved it and looking back at photos I was objectively so cute and the artist did a good job. (I had terrible confidence issues and only wanted to get my makeup done in the first place so I could be halfway ok with having my picture taken) So I think the more chances to get used to the idea, the better, for someone like me (not that YOU would, but you could probably do the same makeup twice and I’d be like “yeah, this is alright” the second time just cause I would know what to expect😂) (Obviously if someone loves their natural face and the way they look in photos and want to rock that at their or anyone’s wedding that’s fantastic too, I’m honestly jealous, just they’re probably not here in the comment section of a wedding MUA drama video) Also full disclosure I was paying more attention to how the already amazing matte blurred lip combo transformed with your green lip gloss than to the drama😂❤👄

I'm so glad this bride's wedding day story ended happily. You are, of course, right that her new husband should have been more measured in his message to the artist. I fully understand his frustration, but you're right about the approach. I still think the best way to find beauty referrals is through people you know in the real world. That can be difficult when you have a destination or out-of-town wedding, but for those brides who are marrying in their hometown, ask your friends and family members for recommendations, not strangers on the internet.

The only thing the boyfriend shouldn't have said was 'you'll get what's coming to you' and 'if you want to meet up' etc. as it could be construed as a physical threat. It is 100% fine to say you are going to do all you can to see them get cancelled. A court cannot rule against you for lost earning unless you share knowingly UNTRUE information about a person or their business, or somehow stop others from being able to contact or get to that business by doing something like shutting down their website or redirecting people to a fake site under the guise of being the actual site, etc. You can say you will cancel someone, you can shit talk them all over social media or wherever else. As long as you are telling your TRUE experience with them you can shout it from the rooftops, and if people see/hear what you have to say and decide not to do business with them that is completely fine and legal. It is only libel or defamation if you defraud them or share known lies. Otherwise there is no claim for any lost wages that may be occurred. *Also, it is KNOWN lies that matter. If it turned out what he says is true and he was in LA for fun a couple days before the wedding but actually with his Mom in the hospital on the day of (although that seems highly unlikely with him posting those stories on the day of...) they would still not be liable for anything because she believes what the other MUA told her to be true and she believes what her eyes see in his story posts to be true so she can say he was in LA doing Paris Hilton's makeup and that he blew her off for it, as that is what she knows to be true.
