Juliet
Robin Gibb
Juliet
Robin Gibb
I steal the night away
Drivin' my life away, dancin'
I was a romeo
I knew the art of romancin'
I was just one of the guys
And I thought I had it made
I needed someone to show me how to love
Juliet oh Juliet
The night was magic when we first met
Juliet, oh Juliet
You know you taught me to fly
You take me clear to the sky
And all the people around the world can stand aside
For me and my baby, Juliet
Fighting with destiny, fortune and fame but kept losing
Playin' a joker's game,
Only myself I was foolin'
I was an average guy in a world of empty dreams
You've broken down all the walls with your love
Juliet, oh Juliet
This kind of lovin' you don't forget
Juliet, oh Juliet
You know you taught me to fly
You take me clear to the sky
And all the people around the world can stand aside
Close your eyes, Juliet, don't let go
On and on, our love is like the sun
It keeps going strong throughout eternity
I want to love you in my life, sweet Juliet
Livin' without you in my life, oh my girl Juliet
Juliet, oh Juliet
This kind of lovin' you don't forget
Juliet, oh Juliet
You know you taught me to fly
You take me clear to the sky
And all the people around the world can stand aside
Juliet, oh Juliet
This kind of lovin' you don't forget
Juliet, oh Juliet, Ah...
Juliet, oh Juliet

I don't listen to this one so much. When it comes to Robin's voice, I love "Don't Cry Alone" from his Titanic Requiem album. It's an orchestral song. Mostly strings and voice. Also his posthumous album "50 St. Catherine's Drive" does have some great songs but I don't see much about it on internet.

I think since this was a period piece in the video they had to have him using an older typewriter. I learned to type by playing a word game that was timed on windows 3. I don't think any of the brothers went to highschool so they wouldn't have had typing classes and all of their written words to songs that I have seen are hand printed not typed.

I really like this one of Robin's. I just loved the video as while❤❤❤ A novel (pun intended😊) theme of the writer fantasizing about his crush, until he developes the perfect chapter for his book. IBM Selectric typewriters were the technology of the day. Universities had huge computer labs- personal computers were in their infancy. So this 1930s style typewriter was a very romantic represention of the poetic writer of yesteryear in line with his romantic daydreams. Thank you for reviewing!❤

I enjoyed watching your face in reaction to his typing style. I know in the U.S. WAAY back in the 1960's, a typing class was required in junior or senior high school. So many of us learned how to type "correctly".. Since Robin would have been in Australian schools at that age, who knows? He dropped out of school early anyway. By 17, he was a pop star!

My impression of the meaning of the vid (could be wrong) is that Robin's character watches this woman on the horsedrawn cart go by repeatedly, and he's fantasizing about how he could be a hero for her and impress her. Types out one fantasy, discards it, and tries another one.

@@jaybrielakoi7747 Or it could be that the house is imaginary and his character is transporting an image of his woman-crush from present day back to chivalrous times. Or maybe the woman is imaginary too and he's just lonely. Multiple possible interpretations. Won't make the world any different. I'd like to see you react to Robin's "Boys Do Fall in Love." It's really strange. (Link below.) Robin almost always sings in his high register. Not falsetto, but just the upper half of his normal voice. In that range, especially in slow sad songs, his voice has unique qualities that touch people's hearts. But in this song, he's mostly in his low register, where he still has that vibrato but his voice isn't all that special. And then when he jumps up to high register, it sounds like two different people. The vid itself is technobabble, looks like a parody of Star Trek DS9. kzbin.info/www/bejne/emm6hIZ9aLqtrbc

To each their own as they say. If we all would love the same music, it wouldn't be as interesting. Personally I do love this album, it has some really great songs on there. Maybe give the song 'Shine shine' a go, that's from one of Barry's solo album's called 'Now voyager' . This album doesn't contain many falsetto songs, if any. If you take a listen to the 'Hawks' soundtrack you'll find the falsetto songs. Some powefull songs on that album too. 'My eternal love' being one of them.

I love this entire album. Can't say the same for his other solo efforts, but this and his posthumous album, 50 St. Catherines drive are pretty good. This song definitely sounds different from what Bee Gee's did, but because Barry wasn't involved at all, Robin was able to go in the direction he wanted.I think there are better songs than Juliet on How Old Are You? but perhaps not as radio friendly as Juliet.

@@jaybrielakoi7747 It is. He knew he was dying and he put every last bit of effort into completing that album before he passed. He did it for his fans and his sons who also feature on the album. It's a shame he never got to see it be released. But he put his heart and soul into it nonetheless. A professional till the end. Reminds me a bit of Bowie ( in the approach to music, not sound).

Great reaction! I think this song might play well with the mid-teens & young adult… or I could be totally wrong though, lol. It reminds me of some of the “boy’” band sound. I think it’s time to give brother Maurice some love if you haven’t yet. “Closer Than Close” & “Man in the Middle” are excellent choices. He has his own voice that is quite appealing. Brother Barry referred to Maurice as being able to inherently know how his voice should harmonize with the two dominate voices.

Maurice has a remake of a song recorded as the Bee Gees called "On Time Remake 1984" that I think is pretty fly.
