Robin Hey Busking in Galway Ireland - The Rose of Allendale

Coming upon Robin in Galway was such a highlight of our time there. He was singing The Fields of Athenry, and I (being an ignorant Canadian tourist) was so taken by how people walking past would take up the song and sing with him as they walked by. He has such an extraordinary voice... no amplification, yet carried for a block or more.

Brings up lots of memories. We lost our family farm in the 68 drought, it was called Allendale.

Just beautiful, lovely take on a great song. I’ve stopped to watch Robin before on many streets, Kilkenny, Galway and other places, not because he’s singing the songs I love, but because he stopped me in my tracks with this vocal, his banjo playing and his overall grasp on Irish and folk music. Keep her lit!
