One of the most relaxing fairy tales in the Disney animated panthenon 50 years old and I have such huge memories with this one The film has some decent animation, funny comedy, and is a harmless fun take on the classic story The prince and his assistant Hiss are hilarious probably the best parts Prince John is kind of effeminate and flamboyant which makes him a fun villain There's a ton of fun action sequences in this giving it a goofy but still entertaining feel The climax is really cool being that it's quiet, suspenseful almost like a mission impossible scenario I didn't catch it at first but wow is it hilarious to see all the supposed innuendos sprinkled throughout the film Some of the child actors aren distractingly off And Marian disappears from a lot of the last half which feels incomplete This is also infamous for reusing a lot of animation frames since Disney had to cut corners at the time The romance still works though with Robin and Marian with one scene in particular using only their eyes and facial expressions to get their love across to the viewer, we don’t see them on screen that much but we can feel their history This movie even inspired a generation of furries (people falling in love with characters that appeared human even though they had animal features) a very marginalized community to say the least Many fans would find their sexual awakening in a way with Robin Hood plus it inspired many artists You could even see the character as a unique form of masculinity with the quintessential idea remaining fighting back against injustice, wanting the world to be equitable through decency and empathy You can still be fluffy and passionate about justice Even ‘Zootopia’ took inspiration decades later 'Robin Hood' has become a staple of Walt Disney and even 5 decades later still works as an animated adventure filled with talking animals being stark asking social questions
