Watching this stupendous clip(well edited indeed.) I am reminded of just how devoted BW & AW were to their craft, inasmuch as they worked and handled the props of every dire trap in which they were ensnared, to insure that we, the humble viewers felt the true gravity of their peril…Be it sticky webbing, the groping fronds of carnivorous foliage, or spiraling clockwork coils winding about their costumed limbs. I have this Robin costume and roleplay in the house as a female version of this Robin and recreate all the perils Robin goes through like this trap getting captured by the sticky net. And with the spinning wheel. I just stand against the wall with my arms and legs spread out. And I recreate all the others like getting pulled over to the wall by penguin's magnet. Or getting knocked out by penguin's cement filled umbrellas. Ect. I do find it all fun.

​@@talkisbdc, although it wasn't explained, my guess is that the net was coated with a very powerful sedative. The Riddler's henchman might have added a saline solution to release the drug. I think there's another episode in which our heroes are put down quickly with another net.
