Robin was the one face to face interacting with Tony knowing the truth and he was honest with her. He jeopardized her safety in addition to taking Michael, and so many focus only on that, so the fact that she was the only one who could have assessed his state of mind accurately gets overlooked.

respect to Robin and Felicia they had his back they knew that ugly moment and episode kidnapping Michael was not the sum of the man they had known for years...they also understood the context a man who lost his child was emotionally devastated.....had a marriage on the rock in blows hurricane Carly with her agendas....he sees a future with her...she tells him she is pregnant with there child suddenly there is hope again only for that to be squashed and then when those feelings for the baby don't turn off like a faucet and all hell breaks loose.
