Jeff Hartwig was glancing through comments and was going to write I’ve been a big fan of his since the 70’s. I couldn’t understand why he was so underrated. He has his own unique style, as many legions do such as Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin- I’ve been fans of theirs back when they were the Yard Birds. Glad they changed their name. Anyway Trower should be as well known as they. He is in my eyes, and millions of others. Rest In Peace James Dewar.

I found out a few years ago Robin Trower wrote this song as an Ode and Honoring to Jimi Hendrix! Robin saw Jimi Live in Germany 10 days or so before Jimi untimely Passing. NEVER would've been a R.Trower, a Frank Marino,Stevie Ray Vaughn and the list goes on ( from A to Z) they way they are, without Jimi !! and yes I've seen Robin 3 times! I Know this is gonna piss a lot off but oh well. Robin know this shit ONLY too well,too!! Thats why he wrote day dream in the first place !!

Robin hadn't played in London for many years but did so in May 2005: the venue was heaving. The encore played was Daydream, totally off the scale: an inspired choice AND performance. I SWEAR I had an orgasm [eargasm??? lol], waves of endorphins sweeping over me. There is something about Robin's style, tone, feel, touch, that reaches ones very soul: in my music listening experience this is very rare and such that if you don't 'get' it you won't get it. This is my pathetic attempt at trying to explain why lesser mortals [Satriani, Bolin, Santana and Peter Green, Snowy White notable exceptions for me] are generally held in higher regard to the person I consider to be The Master. I feel very privileged to have seen him several times and am looking forward to the next helping in October. Long Live The Master! And thank you Mike for putting this out here for us all to enjoy. Nearly forgot: this version up there as well, STUNNING performance. Tony

He's not underrated. I bought Bridge of Sighs (on vinyl and 8-track) when it was voted best guitar album in the Guitar Player poll. I think it was 1973, maybe '74. He's been a guitarist's guitarist for 45+ years. In GP he was voted Best Guitarist for several years running and he appeared on the cover of just about every guitar magazine at some point. It is true that his band didn't play stadiums a la Stones/Floyd/U2, etc. But it has always been a nice change for me to go see him with a couple hundred people instead of 100,000.

please go on twitter and ask robin directly! he may or may not answer. having seen him a lot in recent years, i can say that his concerts are pretty cookie cutter any longer with about 3-4 songs swapping out, with 2 usually dedicated to the new album. Apparently recorded on a phone, which explains the excessive audience noise/talking in the background (very annoying), but Robin was great. I first saw him on the "Bridge of Sighs" tour, in the Johns Hopkins University gym, not much larger than my high school gym; later saw him at larger venues, and the last two times it's been small clubs where I was about as far from the stage as the person who recorded this. He hasn't slowed down any, looks his age but still amazing as a player, and he hung around after the last show I saw and autographed the "Seven Moons" CD I had in the car (wish I'd known he would be available for that, would have brought the "Twice Removed From Yesterday" LP).

@triumphrider97966 жыл бұрын
I wasn't insulting your recording, just commenting on the crowd noise being very annoying. I don't give a damn how hot your equipment is, I want to hear the performers, not the audience conversations. Been to plenty of live performances, heard many great live recordings (including Robin's), there's too much noise in this for my liking so don't worry, I won't bother with any others.
