ROBIN TROWER?????? FINALLY! The album Bridge Of Sighs was his masterpiece. "A Little Bit Of Sympathy" is probably his most rockin tune. James Dewar pronounce doo er is the smooth silky vocals behind this band. Robin is a masterful guitarist and one of the nicest guys you can walk up to after a concert. Never heard of him eh? He sold out stadiums in the 70s that's all.

It's a Scotsman playing bass and singing. I love that you understand what you're hearing. Most people that look at Robin don't get how good he really is, along with his band James Dewar on bass and vocals. Spread the word love

Scribe, I know you dug THAT girl!! BTW, the Bass player was the singer on all the albums for about 2 decades until he retired. A Scottish musician named James Dewar, had a beautiful voice! Was one of a number of white guy singers known as “ Blue eyed Soul” singers. He passed away in ‘02. Robin Trower’s music is Blues Rock with a heavy dose of Funk! My favorite is “ Athela” , especially the Live version from ‘76, got a short but kick ass drum solo on it! Anyway, lots of funky, blusey killer Rock!!

Robin should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Ex guitarist of Procul Harem and left in early 70's to go solo. He filled the gap after the death of Jimi Hendrix and boy did he. He was my 2nd concert ever in Detroit at Cobo Hall. Saw him 4 more times after that everytime a sell out. He opened the blues to a whole new generation. This album should be listened to in it's entirety not a bad song on it. Imagine how lucky we were to see bands like the Who, Stones, Queen, Yes, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, and Robin in their prime. Robin was known as the King of the Strat and still is as at 76 he is still playing. James Dewar is also at the top of his game a top bassist and vocalist of this era. Rip JD

holy shit that was some glorious radical air guitar. marry me. also listen to robin trower - it begins or in the beginning or something like that. robin trower is seriously underrated as a guitar player and as a band. they deserve more love (robin is just the guitarist, the singer and everyone else is part of the band). edit: actually the song i was recommending is called in this place. stay cool. edit 2: lol nevermind. i was thinking of two different songs. about to begin is also an awesome song.

@@mikes6970 Hey, sorry for late reply. Where in NZ are you? My ex-wife of 23 odd years was from Auckland, Kohimarama. No, Buchanan seems to have passed me by somewhat, I think I have an addiction to Robin's tone and feel: listen to him pretty much every day.... Others deserving of mention are Carlos Santana [esp the jazz stuff he did 1972-1975, and the live shows that are out there on YT], the brilliant Tommy Bolin, also Satriani, Peter Green, Snowy White, Eric Bell, I'm sure there are others... Acoustic then Michael Hedges, Will Ackerman, Grisha Gorychev. One other band who DESRVED to be huge were Rare Bird, sadly years before their time and have been overlooked, as badly as Robin has been maligned as a Hendrix copy/clone. Take care, Mike, all the best from Tony in London!!

@@mikes6970 hahahahha right, LOVED BB live, saw him maybe 4 times iirc, he had a BRILLIANT bass player surname Johnson a few of them, Santana lost count at 36 concerts, still the best of ANY band was the concert 15th Nov 1973. Spellbinding. Ackerman I only had samplers, Peter Green never got to see live :-( but I have an album of his with a young English musician Ronny Johnson who had a group called First Light: brilliant, saw them maybe 6-8 times. DON'T get me started on the PC bs, that's all I'm prepared to say on this subject!!!!!!!!!! I just wish the world had kept it's sanity for a bit longer than when I decided to retire. Ho hum. 🤯🤯🤯 Anyway, can't recall if we took in Howick: ex and I and our very young two kids had Christmas and NY out in NZ 1996/7 and I'm fairly sure Jan's friend lived there. It was quite popular back then with the Chinese community and the European locals gave the place a very un=PC name... If you knew Kohi at all my f-i-l owned a very famous bakery in the town, called something like Amadeus or Tosca or some such, had long queues each friday for pop's fruit bread. We're all good up here. Jan did test +ve but is recovered with self-isolation completed last week. All the best, Mike: been a pleasure chatting 👏

Agree with the comments here. It’s amazing that Robin was on the video for Whiter Shade of Pale in his days with Procul Harum but can rock out like here on Too Rolling Stoned. I still think his live album was the best one.... but not when the publishers added the substandard later performance material to pack it out with filler for the CD.
