He says there are three sides..Rohit, hardik and MI Franchise. Let me analyse them according to my small cricketing and ethical reasoning. 1) Hardik was not retained by Franchise. He moves out and gets success in GT. What does he do then? He says he will like to be the captain of a team like CSK which doesn't have superstars rather then a team like MI which is full of Superstar. (Some sour grapes there) 2) Rohit before he was captain there were many legends including Sachin, Ponting who cud never win MI any cup. Rohit wins them 5. Then sticks his neck out and for MI franchise he replies to Hardik by saying yes its a team of superstars but they groove them. When Hardik n Bumrah were spotted by MI, there were not superstars then. 3) MI Franchise - Like a corporate company they don't believe loyalty and goodwill. Rohit has few bad season and they decide someone else needs to be captain. Uptil here its fine. But whats there next move? They bring Hardik who bad mouthed them. And without taking Rohit, Bumrah and Surya into confidence they bring Hardik and make him there captain.

He was wrong with his points. He had no counter arguments which is why he looks correct. Listen to parthiv patel he clearly stated rohit saved bumrah and hardik from getting axed from mumbai management and stood by them and they bloomed because of the backing. If rohit tomorrow asks for captaincy from dhoni i would question rohit as well because dhoni is the person who backed rohit because of which rohit became what he is. Hardik should have atleast had some respect for rohit. And hardik even had a sore mindset about mumbai indians when he was in gujarat as he said mumbai picks superstars whereas csk picks youngsters and makes them superstars. U can count how many indian debutants are from mumbai vs chennai.

I think Rohit has this subtle charm about him that made people and teammates love him. Also, when Rohit got captaincy ,Ricky ponting had willingly given it up and no one from other team was brought into the team to be the captain.Waiting one more year would have been good as they could have given him proper sendoff. I agree w/ Rohit's perspective but feel that Hardik had a chance to build his own legacy at GT when everything was going great there. We all know some csk players and also Virat Kohli denied MI's offer as they loved their franchise and were loyal to them. Despite everything no player deserves hate. But ict fans troll MSD, Virat and Rohit so can't say I'm surprised.Unfortunate reality of Indian cricket fans 😕

He’s actually spot on, he played t20 style cricket even before it was a thing , if I remember right he probably held the record for the fastest 50/100 at the school level and effortlessly hit the ball into the parking lot ..he probably had the skills to be at another level but got cut short by a myriad of factors beyond his control. Needless to say he’s a proud Josephite and that shows with his Awareness and Social skills . He’s got so much more to offer besides commentary and could be a great mentor , would love to see him as a coach for the under 19’s in the future.

I listen to a lot of your stuff Ranveer. But this chat is the most real indian cricket chat on the internet ever! Robin Uthappa, you legend, thank you so much for the transparency and breaking down all walls of diplomacy! Thank you so much for this! Won't be surprised if you get calls to take this video down too because this is away from the narrative that indian cricket has shown! But this is a priceless 2h conversation! Especially the Hardik, Rohit situation was so brilliantly analysed. As Harsha said, the SKY, Bumrah perception who are the best in the world today with bat and ball respectively and also leaders themselves who might've had eyes on an MI captaincy is maybe something Robin skipped. But overall, as 90s boys and cricket fans- this conversation and more conversations such as this strengthens the relationship with indian cricket as fans! Bring Robin Uthappa back for more or let's convince him to write that long book! It'd be the most celebrated book in Indian cricket history!
