After our devastating earthquake in Christchurch NZ in 2011, Robin Williams came here and performed for us. He donated all the proceeds to the Christchurch quake recovery efforts. Thank you Robin.

Robin came into the video store where I worked a few times-always at a random hour when there wouldn’t likely be anyone about. I would greet him as I would all customers and I didn’t make a fuss or draw attention to him. I think he appreciated that.

One of his request in every film he played was they have to hire 10 homeless people locally wherever they are filming

A neighbor and community friend from Mill Valley, Robin was a precious member of our community. I remember one Halloween party in particular that he shared joke after joke and had us all in stitches. Always willing to share a smile. May you find the peace I know you were looking for dear friend.

What a lovely bloke he was. His comedy should be part of PTSD treatment as his work certainly helped me. A truly universally loved entertainer. Whenever I think of him, I am reminded of his movie ' What dreams may come'. Wherever he went I'm sure he would have received a standing ovation when he arrived. Vale Mr Robin Williams.

This hits HARD. Robin died before my father did…my dad was in 2019. He died from complications of the lewy body dementia. I watched him take his last breath.

Lewy body is a nightmare. I'd had no real understanding of dementia, never mind dementia with Lewy body. My mother's anxiety and depression were compounded by the hallucinations. Once she was in assisted living, her husband would call and I'd have to convince her that no one had had their arms amputated, including her or literally talk her out of a dungeon. It also affects the body. I'm so grateful that she never lost the ability to swallow. My tiny mom loved food, and I made sure that she had her favorites. Today, we are only days away from the 3rd anniversary of her passing. As the daughter who took care of her both personally and by proxy during covid, I think that I witnessed too much. I grieved every time she lost an ability and still feel as though there must have been more I could have done and said in the earlier stages. 💔

My mom was finally diagnosed with LBD age 65 after she, too, had had a Parkinsons diagnosis. Anxiety and paranoia were rampant in the early stages. I can totally follow Williamses time-line and despair. Hard as it may sound he saved his family a decade of grief and continuous decline. He left them remembering the energetic, funny, quick whitted man. Believe me, that was his last and biggest gift. What would have come would have been beyond cruel.

He was my childhood. Not only a talented actor but a versatile one at that. A lot of actors nowadays don’t take on a variety of roles, they stick with the roles they’re comfortable with. Robin wasn’t afraid to step outside the box. Not only did he tell you a story with his acting, but he had the ability to stir up so many emotions just by watching him. He will be forever sorely missed.

I was and am still heart broken at his demise. He was one of the very best comedians ever. His ability to use comic relief in an otherwise serious roll cannot be matched. One of my absolute favorite movies is Moscow On The Hudson. I still miss him very much, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. If it hurts this much for me who never met him, how much worse it must be for them.

In his case, it wasn't suicide, but self-euthanasia. He knew he wasn't going to get better, and wanted to be remembered as he was, and not as what he would become. We give our pets this dignity, but not our human loved ones.

My heart goes out to his family. My husband was bi-polar. He was incredibly funny, and very caring...when he was good. But I lived with 2 men, you could say Jekyll and Hyde. When he was bad, he was horrible. He took his own life not long after our 18th anniversary. His mother told me that she believed he lived much longer than she thought he would, because of me. His youngest brother said I killed him. He left behind 2 kids, who were just 16 and 17. No age is a good to lose you dad like that, but 16 and 17? That's hard. 20 years on, I have had to accept, as have they, that he made his choice. No-one is to blame, not even him. If he had known what he was doing to us, he wouldn't have done it. I'm am 100% convinced of that. But sometimes life is just too hard for some souls, and they genuinely believe their loved ones would be better without them. If you are struggling, please, please, please, for the sake of those you love, see a professional. It's not a sign of weakness, it's actually a sign of great strength to be able to admit you are struggling. Peace and love.
@wolfes701

He will always be my favorite actor. The struggle he must have felt must have been terrible. I'm currently battling cancer, and I can tell you that I feel like giving up and ending it almost daily. But I can't give up because my two little ones won't have a dad, and I can't leave them. It's incredibly hard right now, and I don't know why I'm sharing all this, but sometimes it helps just to express the pain and struggle. Holding on for my family is what keeps me going, even when it feels impossible. I want to go on a road trip with my daughters and see everything I can, but with my treatment, financially, I couldn't make it happen. It's a dream I hold onto, hoping one day it can come true.

I saw Robin at a small club in Monterey, Ca. Back in the ‘90’s. I had to wear my glasses that night because of an eye infection. The big rimmed glasses, popular then. We were sitting right in front of the stage. He was doing his bit, then at a pause, he looked at me and said, “Can I use those for a minute?” Of course I said YES ☺️ I handed them to him and he acted like they were super heavy (acting like he was going to drop them 😆) Then he proceeded to do his impressions of Charles Nelson Riley. It was AMAZING! 🤩 LOVED ROBIN!!! 😊😇💙
