“I’m really not sure what I do.” Exactly. People will always say to me, “You should teach writing,” and my response is exactly that. I mean, I’ve been a writer most of my life, and I’ve never even written an outline. I’m basically the equivalent of an improv comic. I actually used to be in an improv group in LA and I NEVER wanted to be stand-up comedian because I knew it would bore me to tears to have to repeat the same set every night. Because for me, humor is always in the moment- never rehearsed. If I had to repeat anything, it would no longer be funny. In fact, you could say stand-up comedy would be the equivalent of having to do an outline for a writer like me.

Remember during the director skit: Williams: I am having trouble staying in character! Mochrie: No kidding! I am 81, and as a retired airline pilot, you would have a difficult time visualizing me as a devoted fan of this type of comedy, but I have been for a very long time. I never got to see a live show, but I am so grateful that your (ensemble) work lives on with youtube. I was a great fan of SCTV, and knew that their roots were Second City. I think there is something about Canadian mentality, that makes this kind of comedy so special to us. I was a lifelong fan of Jonathan Winters, starting from when he would do improve routines in the late 50s on the Perry Como (Kraft) variety show. I liked the British version, but I think the format really hit its stride with the American series. The crew became journeymen. By that, I mean I could find something in every routine that was funny, including the running gags. There are so many special moments. My favourite series, was the film noir, with Colin and Ryan, particularly the one where Colin said something crazy was going to happen, and Ryan kissed him. The show with Robin Williams, was fantastic. Ryan, doing Carol Channing, always put me on the floor. When he referred to stepping out on the moon, and stated, "Why, it's as dry and barren as I am". Another truly special show, was the show with Richard Simmons, where they did the binoculars, seadoo, and build a raft routines. I still ROTFL whenever I watch it. Wonderful stuff, good memories, heartfelt thanks

I definitely got into improv theatre because of watching Who's Line and seeing Robin Williams outtakes. The Genie, Good morning Vietnam etc

If you haven't seen Colin's WLIIA one-liner compilation, it's a must see! The man is incredible! Ryan and Colin were the reason I watched every single episode of Whose Line. Of course, the others were fantastic, but those two were the best!

Whose Line is it Anyway? is one of my top 5 favorite shows of all-time, across any genre. I am not even an avid comedy watcher, but their production was so awesome, fun and entertaining. Bravo, everyone!

I remember watching a little show when I lived in the UK as a child. It's amazing how far they've come. I really miss Mike McShane.

the Robin Williams taping was truly a tier above most other WhoseLine sessions...like, Robin of course would be at the top of His game, but it was like his presence made the Others step up and bring THEIR heavy-hitters...it was like a healthy Competition, of seeing if anyone could "out-funny" the Legend...and the best part is, the 'competition' didnt have any Losers lol
