Ah, the mighty Robin. Should be Sir Robin, and have town squares named after him, school syllabuses including him, the greats of music talking him up, because ALL the greats love him. Like we do

I remember a quite unique experience in the early 70'ies, Incredible Sting Band were playing a concert in Copenhagen (quite incongruously they were paired with a Danish jazz-fusion-prog-rock band Burning Red Ivanhoe - damn good.. and strange, but those were strange days, so wth) during this concert something happened that I had never before nor never after either have experienced: Silence after a song,. No applause... just stunned silence. With Mike Heron behind the curtain playing the organ, Robin stood tall and blond in black velvet, the quintessential hippie, played the tin whistle, and sang bright as a star The Circle is Unbroken. The beauty of it was so powerful, that the sound of applause seemed too crass... After some time, when he said: "it is over", of course applause broke loose, but that initial stunned silence I shall never forget

I love when an audience recognizes the sacred moment that a artist has provided. Must be very disconcerting to the musician, but sound wonderful to have witnessed that moment.

That is a fine story. ISB concerts were unlike any others in my experience. There was sometimes a connection with the audience of a particular sort and they could take people to some deep places. Sometimes awkward, sometimes silly and sometimes profound. Like being with a lover.

One of Robin's brilliant songs, performed wonderfully well - what memories of so long ago arise concerning the bard who has been one of my inspirational musicians since the late 1960's . Thanks for uploading this secording!
