Even if using distilled water, the risk of running straight water in your cooling system may accelerate corrosion. Antifreeze was created not only for winter temps and raise boiling point to protect against overheating but to help prevent corrosion from occurring. If you check your distilled water coolant after a few months, it may turn from clear to a rusty color, resulting in corrosion occurring from the hot/cold cycling. Antifreeze contains anti oxidants to prevent corrosion from forming.

Agree with everything you said. Just saying when you make your 50/50 mix. Use distilled water and not hose water. It doesn't always have to be a 50/50 mix tho. 60/40 will work just as well.

I think that bucket needs to be up on top of the car to make it work better.
@RevolutionTV1

You don't need gravity when you have a vacuum pulled. It literally sucks the antifreeze out of the bucket.

Carlos Torres you maybe right but there is several training videos that insist that the bucket should be up at the same level. There are several videos by Certified Ford Mechanic’s teaching how this process is done and all of them will tell you to bring the bucket up at the same level, there have to be a reason for them to do it like that, maybe is not a very important reason, but there is definitely a reason. By the way I have done it, I am just learning from you guys so that when I have to do it in my truck I have the right equipment and some knowledge of how to do it.

I halfemptied my coolingsystem due to replacing a bypassvalve. Afterwards I only refilled the system with new 50/50 mix (live in sweden). I didn't vacuum my system which I afterwards understood I should have done. Is it possible to suck out trapped air with a tool like this if the reservoar is filled?
@RevolutionTV1
@RevolutionTV1 5 жыл бұрын
I don't believe so. You would end up sucking out all the coolant and spraying it all over the engine compartment.

What worries me about using those cone adapters is that it wont hold pressure and start to leak air, does it come with other adapters? Im surprised that little compressor is doing the job! Have you had any issues since you made the video?
@RevolutionTV1
@RevolutionTV1 6 жыл бұрын
Marcos Rico the way this works is with vacuum. The compressor doesn't blow air in to the system. The tool creates a vacuum which actually pulls the cone in tighter, so very little chance of a leak. The vacuum also pulls all the air out of the system and fills it pretty quick.

Cesar Rivas it did a great job making sure there is no air in there.

Here is my big problem with these systems: Draining the existing fluid only removes about 50% of THE TOTAL VOLUME. Thus replacement does not adequately remove all contaminated fluid. Air entrapment is efficiently removed, but ALL the fluid must be replaced. Unless I'm missing something

Then just introduce a little low pressure (3-5psig) air into the expansion bottle right near the end of the draining process and always ensure that heater core valve(s) are open during the evacuation and refill process.

How does this work when the engine is cold and the engine thermostate is closed i assume it only partly fills tje system?
@RevolutionTV1
@RevolutionTV1 6 жыл бұрын
It fills the whole system. When u pull a vacuum from the hot tank or radiator it pulls from both the upper and lower hose. The thermostat being closed doesn't matter because it pulls all the air out of the top radiator hose to the thermostat and all the air from the lower radiator hose to the thermostat. I hope that makes sense.

You're so wrong when he say 5050 does not apply in Florida it's called... You absolutely need coolant thus the name coolant it not only keeps your call from freezing it keeps your car cool... poor car😥

Thinking of buying this tool but does it drain the coolant as well?
@RevolutionTV1
@RevolutionTV1 6 жыл бұрын
Cesar Rivas it isn't design to do that. There is no hose to send the coolant out. It in theory could. But it's not really necessary. Just remove the lower hose on the radiator and collect the antifreeze in a pan. Then reconnect the hose, clamp it down, go for it.

does it matter if the thermostat is closed?
@RevolutionTV1
@RevolutionTV1 5 жыл бұрын
Nope. It vacuums around it
@theRealTrash80
@theRealTrash80 5 жыл бұрын
The thermostat is designed to build pressure not vacuum, so it doesn't matter for this process. e.g. the thermostat is directional.
