About the orientarion of your buildings: did you ever consider to change the full road on the front side into a smaller one-way road, then turn around the modulars 180 degrees to the more appealing facade and have a full road chopped in two on the visual side.

YES! Robin! I too don't understand why they use black plates under the street lights, etc.!! Annoys me too. I'm oddly irritated by the brown 1x1 tiles used on the front facade in amongst the dark red. I just don't think it works.

Have you ever thought about swapping the modular around with the road in front of them. You can still have the turn going towards the train yard. The only problem would be dealing with ferrari tower how does a minifigure enter it unless the entrance would be in the wall but you may also miss out on some great scenes at the bottom as well.

Hey Robin, you should move the office to the top floor and the changing room to the middle floor. That would make more senses as the other acts can look down on the stage. Also you could put a external stair case from the middle floor to the rear of the Jazz Club.

Yeeessss! This is exactly what LEGO is all about: taking an idea and running with it to make it better. All sets should be modded as they're built (if you like; no pressure - building per the instructions is also fine!) DUPLO Pizza: maybe relocated to the roof like some pizza Bat-Signal...?

For the unstable first floor connection my solution was to not install the technic pins at all, and change the 2 - 1x2 gray tiles with 1x1 tiles so they're not linked at all, now you can just remove them one at a time just like the next floor and greenhouse roof.

Sounds like that back in the day the whole thing was the jazz club but to the business a float they rented room out to other businesses, pizza place (which was kitchen to club) and tailors was another office dressing room for club, which why the doors and stairs are in wrong place

Yes, that's a good backstory... apart from the windows and architecture being totally different on both halves and being accessible by stairs in only one side. It just doesn't make real life sense, but maybe it doesn't need to!

Large wall mirrors would also make your city extend off into the distance possibly making it larger, or a angled mirror set at eye height set on a angle looking down may gice the look on the other side perspective witout disrupting things for filming potentially.

Honestly I think all three are part of the same building, because yes it's a jazz club, but it's an all in house club, they serve pizza for its customers, and the tailor shop, is both an out and in house place, new band member joins and instead of going to a shop they just go up stairs and get the measurements and fix anything that goes worng if something tears before a show. Plus add the vizio ghost singer to the roof or floating above the indoor band

The leaky greenhouse roof should be a really simple fix, just extend the side plates on one side and add black 1x1 bricks to fill in the gap.

Great improvements ! Regarding the pizza sign maybe use the same trick as for the jazz sign and place it sideways (maybe 2 back to back if you have 2). Also until the supplemental jazz club tiles are available, move the lettered ones to the side that is visible when entering the room? A thing that I did to my Modulars with the back facing the outside or the manholes, I took the full back façades away and made them into doll houses which actually made them a lot more interesting as one can look inside. Also, a lot of the other houses from Lego, like Friends and the Diagon Alley are open to the back so it overall makes for interesting scenes. My city is even more dense than yours (5x10 baseplates) so open backs really helped to make it more interesting to the viewer. Thank you so much for your lovely builds and city, your videos and your humor cheer me up every single time!

Talking about proportion, I admit I was tricked by the first look at it: I could swear it was a new building over an 1.5 baseplate like the Assembly Square. Then I stopped to count the studs. 😅 And as always, Lego building suffer from bad accessibility, like getting out of it to access a floor that belongs to the same establishment. We need imagination to accept it. But it looks good in the end. Nice upgrades to it by the way! The band at the top seems to be recording a music video. And now I wonder why the front Jazz Club sign doesn't feature part-built characters.

If it hasn’t been mentioned the bass case can be snapped to the wall behind the ticket taker on the left hand wall (viewed from the street) there is a little snot brick sticking out. Click the neck of the case there! I have no idea why the directions never called that out!

Excellent improvements Robin! A couple of quick suggestions, if I may? (1) how about placing some kind of reflective surface on the door across from the Jazz Club so you can see the front of the modular as a reflection when your standing looking at the backend? (2) The Jazz signage near the back door you could mount the letters on plates or studs to make them sit proud. (3) On the roof with the Rock Band you could have a video photographer Minifigure so it looks like their shooting a low budget music video. (4j Personally I would get rid of the sausage pieces from the Jazz Club sign, also I did see the printed Jazz Club tiles on Bricklink fyi.

I would be very surprised if the double bass doesn't appear on Bricks & Pieces given that its not a licensed part and given how many other instances of otherwise rare parts have appeared on Bricks & Pieces over time. Every special or unique part from the previous-but-still-in-production modulars can be found on Bricks & Pieces (I bought several of the printed parts from the Boutique Hotel for example)

So where is the tailors shop? You should put the doors of the jazzclub on the outside protrudin onto the street. Something to see when you look down the street, but also more space on the inside of the jazzclub which is really cramped currently, and there is no bar. Which could be at the opening to the pizzeria. The pizzeria just needs it's own door to the back alley.

Love your changes, Robin! I would consider moving the neat "Jazz" sign that you affixed to the rear of the ground floor to another location. Similar to the Grand Emporium's sign, why not put that "Jazz" sign atop a pillar protruding from the Jazz Club's roof? It would add another visible sign, and since the building itself is largely obscured by the Emporium, might provide minifigs with a better chance of finding the club from a distance. Cheers!

In defense if the pizza entrance to the Jazz club I have seen theatre and resturants do these combos to both entertain and feed guests. So he could be serving pizza to the guests at the theatre as well. That said an actual door would have probably been better.

The GBC is on only half a baseplate. There's a lot of creamed in a small footprint so a direct swap isn't possible. I'm still working on a new Jazz location!

Who says that road has to have the shop fronts? I’d have an alley to the buildings next to the fairground it’s not unusual for roads to go behind popular buildings like banks and pizza places. I’d simply rotate them 180 degrees and have a street scene to keep interest in the area.

Hmmm, I usually have a good chuckle about the details you add to builds only for them to never be seen... However something does need to be done about that street... Could you not switch the position of the road so it does a bit of a dog leg and runs along the edge of the second standing hole (where the jazz club is) allowing you to put the jazz club and the others then facing the standing hole?

Great video as usual. Really tailoring the set to fit your style very well. The sort of punk look of the band, along with the "scary" logo on the drums kind of reminded me of The Misfits so what about calling the band The Misfigs?

Great review Robin! Im still saving for my set but it looks great! I'm seriously concerned for our lego citizens who seem to live on a diet of mostly pizza, ice, cream and donuts. I'd love to see lego do some different eating establishments....why didn't they put a tapas bar there instead ?! Have you noticed that the friends figures get all the fresh food places, farms and supermarkets and the lego people live on fast greasy food? Wierd huh? Im actually looking forward to doing the moc of this set by brick artisan...and I can't wait to see what interesting things Mr Hood does with it!!!!

Good review. What if the JazzClub sign was two sided on 45 degree angles like the marquee? Then you need less tiles and it would be visible in most locations???

In regard to the upcoming city tour, what are the dimensions of the city? I'm interested in making a city map and figure knowing the approximate measurements will make plotting names and locations relative to each other easier. With how much is going on in the city I'm impressed by how you can remember so much of it so well.

love your additions. I think the stairs does work btw. It's not unusual for old buildings in cities to have weird layouts, and the tailor renting a room somewhere seems logical. the pizza did need a sign yes. agree with you on the colours of the parasol, the old style was better. could you add SSP or TNMT on the roof next tot he greenhouse munching on pizza?

other idea, turn the road infront of the jazz club to a single lane road? so that you can have modulars against the wall?
