Thank you for a really excellent tutorial. I have not realised before now how useful Viveza is for controlled editing of tones in landscape images.

Thank you. Yes, Viveza is one of the best tools for Landscape editing. Viveza and Color Efex Pro are the ones I turn to first for colour editing.

Hi robin - great videos. I use nik all the time but mostly use color efex. I worry about multiple processing of tiff files.

Thanks. When you say you worry about multiple processing of TIFF files, is that multiple filters in the same tool (for example Color Efex Pro), or using multiple filters in different tools on the same image, or something else. This sounds quite interesting.

Hello Robin, again many thanks for this tutorial. I started using the Nik collection since Google released it to the public and thanks to Google for that. Beforehand I rarely used filters except on my camera which I like to make it right in camera. But here in post processing there is another whole window to bring the image to life and I used mostly the Color Efex Pro to start with. And since you demonstrated the effective application in a local area on an image using Vivezza I like it even better. I don't even have to get into Light-room since Vivezza does it even better in my opinion. And I can see the whole image as the changes come about. Great tutorial and very well illustrated. Many thanks I have subscribed to your channel and looking forward to watch more tutorials. Cheers.

Thank you. Filters are invaluable. At one time, they just made a few things easier or quicker than in Photoshop. Today they help you be more creative. You don’t need to think how can I do that. The allow you to concentrate on the image and creating the image you want.

nice comparison ! as said in another post (nik 2018) it is a pity viveza upoint is not one filter in color efex pro. normally we should be able to add s-curve,... with several curves filters in the stack but not sure u-points are good enough to make curves at certain places. this is easier to do in photoshop with a layer mask and a brush than a radial upoint marc

Thanks. There's always multiple always to achieve similar outcomes. I prefer Photoshop masks in combination with Nik layers. I feel it gives the most control.

I have to say I agree with Marc. No idea why Viveza isn't part of colour Efex pro. Makes absolutely no sense to me and I end up having to port the image around.

Robin I really like your instructional videos. Is it just me, or is the resolution of your videos a bit soft? I find it hard to see which adjustment you are doing sometimes. Keep up the great video instructions!

Some of my earlier videos were recorded on a Windows computer and may not be in full HD. That could have caused the issues. Try watching one of the more recent ones to see if there is a still a problem.

Robin, just a question. Iam using viveza 2 with dxo elite 3 and affinity photo but i only have the first four options; brightness, contrast, saturation and structure whereas you have an additional 6 sliders for other parameters. Any ideas?

Was thinking about getting on1, but don't really need it except for maybe it's ai masks. Would be great if nik had similar ai masks, ie "select sea " or "select grass" or "select person". With such capability, nik,would be all that is needed in a post process. The upoint is good, but I think it could really be helped with ai select like on1 2023 has.

Does Viveza do anything that Lightroom can't? Or differently?
@RobinWhalley
@RobinWhalley 6 жыл бұрын
Not really, and Lightroom can do much more. BUT Viveza makes it much quicker and easier to create selections and adjust specific areas. Some of the adjustments such as structure are difficult to reproduce in Lightroom. If you are a Landscape Photographer, the Warmth slider can add a very nice quality to the light that's difficult to achieve in Lightroom. Ultimately, Viveza produces images that have a different appearance from those editing just in Lightroom. My own workflow is usually to convert the RAW file with Lightroom, move into Photoshop when I use the Nik Collection to refine the image further. Hope this helps.
