previous daybreak content creator here, I can confirm community is garbage but the game is okay sometimes. it’s just super different from other asymmetrical games. even then, once you get into the actual statistics of the game, it is very unbalanced. in a well balanced scenario, the killer is always losing just because of how advantageous things are for survivor. yeah daybreak shouldn’t be as popular as it is, but it has a cult following so we can’t get rid of it :(((

Hey, Dead by Roblox content creator, tester, killer main, and player for 4 years here. Agree with most of your points, although somethings are just flat out wrong. For one: Hitboxes are janky yes, but they use raycasting and are very limited by the roblox engine. There is not much they can do without spending a huge amount of hours for very little effect. These hitboxes also change and seem weird because of lag. For two: Pop and ruin are in the game, uh yeah there's not much else to this point. But they are very weak and I believe they need a buff or we just need more gen regression perks in general. Dead by Roblox is definitely survivor sided, but this doesn't change the fact that every single day a dozen survivor mains quit mostly because of killer mains like me. I play killer, I load into a match, I destroy the entire lobby in 3 minutes, I repeat. This is because of the lack of people playing the game in general which means that new players will have no choice but to face off against veterans like me. Overall amazing video, love your work, and I would love to see a more in depth video about the game.

i play trepidation a lot, the 2nd killer you got was Brute and he's one of the easier characters to face, but he's also a noob stomper because of his rage ability. when you get the metal "thunk" sound that means the hit was blocked by his rage ability, but its not really communicated besides that one sound. i had someone to tell me that in chat like 20 games in before i realized. the crafting makes a huge skill ceiling, land mines are basically the pallets of that game and the map is usually covered in them when the lobby has several good players which gets really annoying when im playing slasher lol. there's also a problematic gamepass that increases slasher chance, and i've gone like 10-15 games without a slasher game because several people in the server had it. the progression is nice though, there's a lot of perks to choose from and i feel like i can actually choose off-meta perks without being too punished. slasher is fun too, i love playing the intruder one just to jumpscare people

Its also frustrating dealing with the angry kids and teenagers that play it (im 18 so i cant say much, but im usually pretty chill playing it) Despite its flaws i still find myself coming back to it... i still enjoy it for its lore/characters and im excited to see where it goes in the future. im glad you at least got to try it!

I don't know why anyone would design Daybreak in that way. Shorter chases due to one-hit downs, longer gen repairs making more of the gameplay completely dull and mind-numbing, character specific perks that are extremely unbalanced and stale, heavy reliance on teammates to do objectives which places less importance on individual achievements, badly designed loops, broken killer hitboxes, and stamina management of all things. Even the community surrounding the game sucks. There's nothing redeemable about it other than the effort put into the visuals. I can only imagine that they had to make both survivors and killers this weak because that 8 player count was their selling point. That alone doomed it from the start.
@fajdek70326 ай бұрын
Lmao "shorter chases due to one-hit downs" if you're a good survivor you can easily loop for several minutes even with bad chase stats. If you're starting out I recommend Jun as his perk lets you take, you guessed it, an extra hit before going down, letting you make a mistake in chase, and his stats are really good for chase. He's really solid at all skill levels and is just a good pick. If you need chase tips, basically try to not tap sprint as it cancels your stamina regen, commit to walking or commit to sprinting, and only vault the same window twice instead of 3 times so the vaults restore faster (30s instead of 75s). If you're looping a loop with a long side and a short side, always try to vault from the long side so if the killer mindgames you can still survive if you have enough stamina. Other than that it's just map knowledge and mindgaming which I can't really give tips on. Also consider running at the killer, it works more often than you think.
@planetlazuli76266 ай бұрын
I mean like the loops are designed so that you actually have to think how and when to use them, not just “hey, look, a free loop”. Also cooperation is literally the most important part of the game, that’s literally why there are 8 survivors. Unless you’re playing on a potato device or don’t know how to sprint the killer hitboxes are pretty reasonable.
@Breadian6 ай бұрын
In unused background footage my chases were a lot longer because I used the guy who goes invisible after 10 seconds. But yeah I think longer chases just depend if your killer is playing on mobile or not idk xd
@ALynn1276 ай бұрын
@@fajdek7032 Let me explain a simple concept to you that surely you should be able to understand. If I'm designing an asymmetrical horror game much like dbd, and on the survivor side, I wanted to max the player-count at 16 players, I would have to heavily weaken each and every one of those players to balance the teams. Disputing my claim that the game has shorter chases compared to DBD with some anecdotal evidence you came across while playing really doesn't matter at all, because again, it's anecdotal. Daybreak objectively NEEDS to have shorter chases than DBD, because if it didn't, survivors would be overpowered. Even if I stop thinking for a bit and just assume that you're speaking nothing but the complete truth, and that every survivor in the game, all eight of them, can run the killer around for several minutes at a time, do you think there would be a game to play? If that was the slightest bit true, survivors would win each and every time without fail. Since that obviously isn't the case, there's three possibilities here. Number one, you're outright lying about what you personally experience because it's easy to do, and you don't like the criticism of a game you enjoy playing. Number two, you aren't lying and the game is actually like this, making the survivors overpowered and killer completely unviable. This also means decreased gratification for a win you didn't really earn at all, and again, doesn't go against what I said about the game being bad. And finally, number three, you constantly go up against terrible killers, which doesn't even remotely counter my argument that the game is poorly designed. At an optimal level of play for both sides (the way you should design games around for the most part), everything that I said is still true. I understand you enjoy the game, and that's cool, glad you can enjoy something I don't, but I just think it's way less interesting or fun than DBD for these reasons. If you have a different opinion, completely fine, but there isn't an argument to be had here other than subjective enjoyment.
@ALynn1276 ай бұрын
@@planetlazuli7626 DBD's loops might seem like "free loops" but they only seem that way to you because they are safe loops. Daybreak's loops are very poorly made making them seem less "free". If you like that more, completely fine, but you're not really disagreeing with anything I said here other than the enjoyment you get out of these game design decisions.

Oh, If "Escape the Darkness" still had servers, It would definitely be in this video. It was basically a 1v 7 (I believe) horror game on Roblox and was very well made (for Roblox) I think playing both sides was fun and I definitely recommend you search it up on KZbin. The "Hook" Equivalent of DBD in Escape the Darkness was basically when you down someone, it automatically sends them to a chamber were they could be saved, and looping was actually counterable on the Killer Side and not as blatently OP like in Flee the Facility, but has actual safe/fun loops unlike Daybreak. IMO, if Daybreak did a similar thing to Escape the Darkness, where there was like a hook equivalent that downing a Survivor would send you too Daybreak would actually be fun, because the whole slug thing in Daybreak really turned my off from the game. Love this Vid

erm trepidation player here I've been watching your content for a while, there's a few stuff I'd like to point out: -Brute was not nearly even as strong as killers like Prowler or Onryo, he was infact one of the most simple and easy killer to face against, his missed ability penalty is fatal, also idk what you meant by "it could squeeze through wall" because, every slashers can do that, if you're talking about the wedge mechanic, also you made alot of mistakes that brute round lo -If someone can't loop the slasher for more than 20 seconds, that's pretty much a skill issue since you had faster speed than the slasher at the start for like a solid 8 or 9 seconds, you always fast vault regardless of the requirement, you have 3 health states, and if the slasher try to mindgame (very rare) you can gain your stamina back. -"You can't use medkit on teammates" I mean that's partially true and I said partially because you can give your teammates the medkit by opening the crafting Menu and right click on the item to drop it, but yeah alot of the players don't know that either.

It might've been less balanced at times but I feel that regardless of who was playing killer, as a survivor it basically only needed skill and the wit to either leave your teammates behind or use the extra life you have to sacrifice for the greater good. As a killer there were plenty of things to do and I really feel that the only thing that stopped you from winning was your creativity with the skillsets. Daybreak isn't perfect but it's still pretty fun and you can earn almost everything (cosmetics included) for free. The main draw for me later was when I figured out there was a slender skin. That was pretty cool. The 1 hit sounds bad on paper but if you take some time to learn you'll find it's really not that bad. I mean there are plenty of character abilities each with their own specialties. Some are gen focused making those slow gens faster, some are chase focused making that 1 hit very easy for certain survivors to deal with, some are support focused like giving others a second life and others are offensive like "GUN". Self explanatory. Anyway, it's fun game. Flawed in certain ways but not enough to destroy the experience. Trepidation. Oh that game... There's a lot to say and it's hard to explain. The game isn't an easy one to explain at all. There's a lot of mechanics that are simple enough to understood through gameplay but hard to explain but I'll try. First things first, each slasher has their own hp. Certain one take more bullets and are often not worth trying to shoot unless everyone is willing to do so. Better to just use stuns or run depending on the killer, like the ghostface dude is super easy to headshot down even solo. But the Brute will not go down no matter what you try because of his high HP and his unique defense ability. Most of the time you will be playing as a survivor and luckily survivor perks are unique and varied allowing for many different builds. There's a crazy crafting build I made where I never ran out of resources. There was a full offensive gun build I made that allowed me to be a constant threat to the slasher if left unchecked (but it ATE up resources in the round pretty quickly.) There was that silly knife build I made which surprisingly worked pretty well for a joke build. I mean I managed to 1v1 the ghostface in a knife fight twice and won both fights. With just a knife. Still ended up dying as I got caught eventually so not really worth but that was fun so it was worth it in ny eyes. There's a ton of potential builds which is where most of the fun of that game comes from. The guns and crafting are things that mostly add flavor to the game and prevent it from getting to stale. Guns are fun though I wish the sniper sensitivity was lower. And the crafting is hard to explain but easy to understand after a few matches. The game is probably the closest to a actual well made and balanced game. Though I can't say much because I went from daybreak to Trepidation to finally Pillar chase 2 which is where I currently stay. Ultimately I think both games have their merits and the main flaws of them mostly come from expecting it to be like DBD too much. These 2 games are't trying to be carbon copies of dead by daylight, they are trying to put their own unique gameplay and twists on things. Daybreak does this through a huge interconnected lore and cool skins for basically free and a bunch of unique abilities that add plenty variety so getting bored becomes more difficult. Trepidation does that through more unique slashers than dbd's killers and adding weapons and crafting to spice things up. Both games have their flaws but it's not like there aren't merits to them as well. The best way to really find out if they can click is to olay them for a day or two rather than a match or two. After all, just like in dbd, most of the fun comes after you unlock more characters and perks. I think that's all I can say from personal experience. I hope everyone has a nice day!

Not gonna lie, I personally find the new editing style a bit uncomfortable, with all the fade in and outs, emojis and eased in transitions. It's like there's constant movement to attempt to maintain the viewer's attention, and ends up being disorienting.

I hate when people say daybreak is a dbd ripoff cuz it’s very different and it’s own game. Same with trepidation

4:19 that’s a personal attack right there buddy.. the engine is fine but the engine mounts needed to be changed and they not common enough to find them locally so it had to be shipped which OBVIOUSLY TAKES TIME

You should try Dark Rising next, they are made by the same developers of Escape The Darkness, another asymmetrical horror game on roblox that unfortunately shutdown on August 1st 2023 (check on YT.) Currently the game has not released yet but i'm hoping you can try it out once it finally release most likely around near the end of 2024, or in early 2025. As I have high hopes for the game with the new mechanics it brings to roblox asymmetrical games. 👍
