so i think the difference between the endings is: - in the bad ending, not pulling the switches puts you into the maze forever, not allowing you to escape this nightmare you're trapped in - in the good ending, pulling the switches but not activating the computer will allow everyone to leave, and free everyone else from their cryogenic stasis - in the true ending, pulling the switches and activating the computer will allow everyone to leave, freeing them, AND shut down the facility as a whole. i believe what the story is, is that: - a ballistic missile is headed towards the players city / town (as in, nuclear war has occurred) - all of the residents of said area, who were able to find shelter were placed into a cryogenic stasis facility, were interviewed, and recorded several factors of their life & person - they were then placed into stasis chambers, and whilst in stasis, would be placed into a nightmarish, infinite maze with a "creature" that continued to follow them - likely some of their diagnostics (mental state, physical health, so on) would be recorded as the days go on - they would never truly die in the maze, and simply reset, losing all "memory" of what happened, and continue to push forward, forever - you, the player, are a "special" case, in which you are the one to either doom everyone to the nightmare, free them from it, or free them and shutdown the facility for good as well, the reason why you awake to an abandoned facility, with the room trashed is because: - likely the people operating the facility, similar to many of the staff in Fallout, were running out of supplies, and wanted to go back to the real world, rather than continue to cultivate existence in their shelter. in Fallout, most vaults were social experiments, and were often never equipped with more supplies than necessary to keep people in the vault for the 180 day waiting period, and i believe that this shelter emulates that. as well, it's also likely why in the true ending, the description for it reads "for the greater good" as you could be shutting down MULTIPLE facilities, rather than just your own. edit: this is just ramblings based off what i saw in the video, there's evidence to support a few interpretations, but i find this to be a reasonable conclusion.

@@varafin edit: reworded to not be a mess the player was cryogenically frozen, so the time elapsed between the missile hitting the region, and them thawing out is impossible to determine. if the player was thawed out only recently (in the good / true ending) then it makes sense as: - the facility is isolated - nuclear winter could greatly increase a climates temperature, causing the environment seen once exiting if the player was thawed out after a LONG time (decades / centuries) then it would still make sense as: - the facility is isolated (again) - the environment seen in the flashback did showcase heavy snow i believe the player thawed out after decades, potentially a century or two, as the place looks completely abandoned as: - there were 0 signs of life upon leaving - the facilities systems were failing (signs of prolonged deterioration)

Just to say, reillumination absolutely butchered the original game. The og game made it feel like the monster was toying with you, this one just slams it in your face and expects you to be scared. The og game was a lot better at scaring me because Zeekers actually cares about this games, unlike the recreations.

i honestly love games that have different povs such as roof povs because it has a different dynamic than a casual 3rd person or 1st person. Death screens are another thing that are amazing with horror games because they add more depth to the game and plus the arts cool ngl. Lightbulb reminds me of scotomaphobia with it’s eerieness and unique gameplay, i wish many more games are like them.

I am going to write down all of the lore i currently know and was proven by the developer of the game, aswell as some theories. The game takes place in the year 2050, and (I believe) you work for a company named tomorrow tech co. The place in which the game takes place in is a simulation named temnota. Temnota is a simulation powered by an ai, that is to help mentally unwell people to relieve them of any past trauma, which is stated in a note found in i believe chapter 3. Assuming you work for TTC (tomorrow tech co.), you are inside the simulation. The reason i believe this is because during the flashback in chapter 4, you encounter the ballistic missile threat whcih is displayed on the TV. The reason for this is because russia and america are currently at war, which can be backed from the clock note in chapter 4. The clock referred to the doomsday clock, in which it says it has been the lowest it has ever been (Which i speculate to be midnight or 1 second to midnight). You enter one of the sanctuaries (which is the unstable one), and of course, the ai becomes corrupted, and becomes self aware. The monsters are temnotas creations, and temnota wants to escape the simulation. Escaping the simulation requires you to pull all the levers at the end of chp 5, and after, you wake up from a pod. You find yourself in a facility (which is TTC), and find a key, which leads to the true ending. If you pay close attention to one of the monitors, it shows that the life support systems fail, and that all colonists still stuck inside temnota are dying. This is visually backed due to it saying on the monitor that it went from roughly 10,000 colonists, to 0. There is also a note stating that the person instructed in shutting down the simulation couldnt do it since they didnt have the heart to do so. They ask you to finish the job and shut down the simulation, killing everyone trapped inside, but trapping the monster inside aswell, not allowing it to escape. Thats basically a quick run-down of the lore.
