for those who don’t have the time to watch the full video 1. Roblox will be updating the rules for creators who make layered clothing so they don’t break games since some people abuse layered clothing to break servers 2. Roblox is working on removing and deleting crosswood games which ban you for simply joining 3. Roblox is testing out new avatars where you can customize it by drawing or adding stickers, changing sizes of certain body parts and even colors of said body parts (I can’t imagine this going horribly wrong) 4. Roblox is fixing lag by changing the way a device renders a Roblox map by only rendering what is on screen to reduce lag, meaning everything that isn’t on screen is invisible but it is still there since normally when you join a Roblox game, your device renders the entire map hence why some games are laggy or slow (not every device will have this feature for now) 5. Roblox is preventing less account hackings by not letting you change your account settings if you are logged in an unrecognized location. Let’s say you live in New York, and you made your Roblox account in New York and someone tries to hack you in England. They won’t be able to change anything on your account since it’s in another area. 6. You need to verify your phone number to do simple stuff like sending friend requests and joining groups (kind of a w update but it’s more tedious than the captcha thing) 7. Roblox is planning an event but it’s unknown what this is for now 8. Roblox is adding their very own top 100 music charts to inspire creators to make music (think of game soundtracks not actual lyrical music)

the phone number requirement is extremely stupid. It is a very known flawed and poor system where you can get codes are passwords from phone providers with little to no verification.

They could call the providers, say what country they were in and answer "I forgot" to a bunch of information and still get access to their accounts. It's why I haven't put in a phone number. If you just ask for pass keys, phone providers don't care and will give out that info with ease.

Also, there might be people who don't have phones for whatever reason, or their parents won't let them use their phone numbers. I know that might end up being the case for me. An average person probably can't do it unless a phone number is publicly connected to some other account with your real name; but logically companies as big as roblox have the connections and most likely a system to share such information. For building a profile on a consumer to know what things they buy or like, or to facilitate other unclear schemes. Credit card information is similar, but this phone number verification extends its reach to more users. This is all speculation and of course they could be not doing dishonest practices like this, but I'm willing to bet they are.

I will be honest, if you look at the upsides of the phone number requirements for newer accounts to join groups and send friend requests, it might be a way that Roblox is combating predators on the sight, as if one account gets banned, they cant just make a new account and go back into the scene as easily as they used to (also prevents children from falling victims to these, though there should be a way to bypass the friend thingy to add people you know, like a trusted friend code or something like that). The only thing that would suck is that newer users can't join a community, make friends, or join groups for exclusive rewards if they don't have a valid phone number.
