If you want to make longer trains use extended pistons and half balls, you might wanna make the half balls ice as making them ice will not slow down your train.

I built a steam train so big that I could not reach the buttons to move the rail unless I get out of the train

actually, it’s because the rail buttons glitch and you have to reclick the button of the direction it’s already in THEN click the switch you wanted to

A simple way to build a train in my own opinion is to put suspension aside of wheel so at the corners it does not derails and add a beam conected to two wheels by a motor

i make the first train with only 1 carriage with 4 ballast blocks at 10 density and its not enough to keep the train from going up and derailing

Instead of setting the speed to zero, which makes the motor lock up, and adds resistance making it slower- unpower the motors. This lets them spin freely. just a lil suggestion *edit. it doesnt lock them up. thats my bad- but unpowering them would make it a LOT smoother.
