In my opinion, this becomes pretty fun once you grind for a little. It's only boring before lvl 25 on the first rebirth. After that, it becomes hella fun to run around with no actual goal in mind. The sound effects, ui and most models/parts of the map feel like something you'd expect from a sonic game, and that makes it cooler. Also, the possibilities with spin dashing and homing attacks are plentiful, and using them is amazing once you get the hang of it. My only complaints are that the homing attack feels underused and underpowered (its only useful for a quick burst of speed and for traveling across gaps, and the spin dash cancel does both better), the Lost World and Emerald Hills feel emptier than Green hills (I don't have snow valley and onwards, so I don't have a opinion on that yet) and the progression of pet/trail strength through worlds feels slow and not very worth it. Also tails and sonic don't have special abilities that make them worth getting so thats also something
