The Frontier is exactly what the Tacoma once was. It's not about the latest unproven, unreliable tech, with a bunch of overrated fluff. It's about clean, simple, reliable and though the Frontier is not as expensive as the competition, it's still by far the most truck for the least amount. My local Nissan dealer has a couple of 4x2, 4 Dr, short bed SV models for just under $37k. Who knows, today, if I went to the dealer and actually tried to buy one, i may get the ole dealership smack, discovering that $$36k truck is actually $45k. If you want the Pro4X. Well, now you're paying a pretty penny.

Rob, thanks for taking the time to review the Frontier. I would prefer the Frontier over the new Tacoma for a few reasons. Price, naturally aspirated V6 engine, interior looks, and (being that it has been around awhile) not a new gen model, etc. By the way I am thinking of going ahead and replace my 2013 Rav4 because soon it will be only available in a hybrid plus it's about time for a complete makeover, and we all know what that brings!

I agree. The Frontier is not bad looking but it looks dated. That being said, if I was looking for a midsize truck right now, I would get the Frontier. The Tacoma looks better but I don’t trust the new model yet. I’ll stick with my ‘22 Tacoma for awhile.

The 2024 Pro4x’s that are 46-48k msrp are listed on carugurs and selling for 35k-38k. Huge discounts. I have a 2020 Tacoma Access cab TRDOF, love this truck. To answer your question, if I would choose the pro4x over the new Tacoma, I’d say yes. Here are the reasons for me - - price, the 46-48k pro 4x can be found for 36-38k. - v6 NA - happy with their transmission since I’d be nervous getting a 24 taco with the transmission issues they just started talking about. - the look is understated and a bit older, but it’s a huge upgrade from the older gen. I do prefer the look of the Pro4x over the SR,SR5,TRD OFF road and Sport Models. Besides the price, which is a big difference with the discount many dealers are giving, being NA V6 and reliable vs a 4 cylinder turbo, transmission issues currently in the news, and the price is quite a bit more, I’d be nervous buying the 24 Tacoma. If I wanted the top of the line Tacoma TRD Pro or Trail Hunter, I’d be at over 70K. That’s just insane. The top of the line 48k Pro4x can be had for in the 36-38k range. It’s a no brainer. I do hope Toyota gets their issues fixed with the new taco, but its price and being a turbo will keep many from looking at it, even if they fixed the mechanical problems. I believe these 24 Frontiers are the last naturally aspirated v6 engines in the mid size market, huge reason to consider it.

If frontier is so good why the discounts? Nissan is a pile Just go look at a 5 year old titan vs the similar tundra If you can actually find the titan😅
@JD.123 ай бұрын
@@joeblack1052 you should look at q1 2024 sales of the new Tacoma, they are down 59.8 percent. While Nissan sales, particularly Nissan frontier sales are up by 20 plus percent. Once the 4th gen Tacoma came out, Nissan saw the uptick of sales of their Frontier, the headquarters contacted their dealers and told them to give huge discounts of 15 plus percent if needed so they could capitalize on what is going on in the market. Toyota had 126 billion in debt in 2021 and in 2024 they have 186 billion. Nissan had 51 billion in debt in 2023 and in 2024 they have 37 billion in debt. Nissan can afford the discounts because of this plus they have older technology so they didn’t have all the new money spent on R n D like Toyota did for the new Tacoma. This is the main reason why Nissan is giving the discounts, because they can. Toyota is in a lot of trouble. Toyota motors is the most in debt corporation outside of financial industries in the world. Being a Tacoma owner, I wish Toyota the best. But the sales drop of 60 percent of the Tacoma speaks for itself. You mentioned “ 5 year old tundra “, that would be a 2nd gen Tundra, yes that last gen V8 Tundra is much better than the Nissan Titan in my opinion for reliability. I wouldn’t bet on the 3rd gen new Tundra, Google and see, dealerships have stopped taking trade ins of new Tundras.
