35 years later after seeing this in the theater as a kid I caught on to what Bob Morton was saying to the old man right after Kenny got killed. Basically told him they put Murphy in that precint on purpose because it's a high crime area and he's a good cop so he's a good candidate for the Robocop program, hence when Murphy keeps asking for backup the dispatcher keeps telling him they're unavailable. Backup wasn't ever gonna come. They're setting him up to "die".

people ask why Murphy gave his position away....it's because he's a cop and shooting a man while back turned constitutes murder. In every instance Robocop did not fire first or constitute a justifiable shooting. - Convenience store robber: Didn't fire, incapacitated him while he fled - Two rapists: 2nd surrendered, 1st shot in groin. - Hostage taker: Didn't intervene til he threatened the mayor directly. - Emil: Shot his bike, crashed, survived - Leon: Taken into custody, interrogated - Factory: killed 17 people, ALL justifiable as they shot first - Joe: Shot by murphy - Clarence: Threatened to kill him, killed in defense - Dick Jones: killed after threateneing with deadly weapon

One thing that's implied by the movie (and may have been in the original script) is that the reason Detroit is so bad is *because* of OCP. They've sabotaged infrastructure, politics and competing businesses to the point where they could buy everything cheap and make Delta City - for rich people, of course. It's made more clear in the otherwise pretty bad to mediocre (and very skippable) RoboCop 3.

Behind the gore, violence and comedy there’s also sadness. Murphy was a man with a family now he’s a cyborg with a family he can never have. We see this more in the 2nd movie when he sits outside his wife’s house watching his son playing

Bro, you had me dying when you noticed they tested weapons in Detroit before they send it to the military. I literally lol'd. Not many people notice that. I live in Stockton, CA currently. And ish ain't great out here either. I used to make a joke that we're so bad out here, we make Detroit's paper.

Always love watching first reactions to this movie. Most people that didn't see action films from this time, always react the same way to the kills in this film.

Dick Jones was played by the actor Ronny Cox who also was in the movie Beverly Hills Cop as the Police Lt. of Beverly Hills. He was also good in the movie Vision Quest (1985), also starring Matthew Modine as a high school wrestler. (good movie to watch here)

NICE DOOGIES! EPIC MOVIE & good review! I specifically ENJOY it when I'm looking for NEW movie reactors giving their interpretations of Robocop and OTHER EPIC movies that Verhoeven has done, or others not by him! 🤣

"What kind of guns are these?" Shotguns with the right loads are devastating at close range. It'd probably take a lucky shot to blow a guy's arm off, but it could happen.
