Agreed. Nowhere near as good as it could've been, admittedly, like imagine if Paul Verhoeven had stayed on and had Frank Miller's screenplay to work with? It could've easily overshadowed the first film, I think. But what we got was a lot better than it gets credit for being.

The kid’s name is Gabriel Damon Lavezzi; he was a child actor of the 1980’s and early 1990’s. He was in a lot of different sitcoms as a one or two episode character: Star Trek, Baywatch, some Disney shows. He was also a voice actor in movies like The Land Before Time and The Little Mermaid. His film career ended in the mid nineties and he went on to just do voice work until 2006.

Robocop 2 killed Angie because it was asking her for Nuke. She mistook his gesture as romantic, since they were a couple. Since she misunderstood, his pain from withdrawal took over, and he killed her. Remember, he was just shooting everyone in the room, but he didn’t just shoot her. He remembered her and how she’d probably have Nuke on hand. If she knew what he wanted, she and Hobb could’ve taken control of him. I mean that’s my interpretation.

It's also a comparison scene to when Murphy saw his wife at the station. Murphy loved her so he pretended not to know her and let her go. Cain loved Angie but couldn't let her go so he killed her. This movie is smarter than people give it credit for.

Just so you guys know. Robocop is also basically a brain, maybe not even the complete brain, the face is draped over the metal head unit to give the effect of the original head. That's also why shooting him in the mouth wouldn't work as it's also metal behind that area not human skull. I can't remember who said it but i think it was in one of the documentaries that they kept the face to try and keep him sane once he became a machine.

About the only thing I like about the next sequel, "Robocop 3," is that Dr. Marie Lazarus states loud and clear in that movie that Murphy's face is "HUMAN FLESH THAT'S ALIVE." Fans argue about whether Murphy's face is living skin or preserved skin or a plastic mask, so it's nice to have a canonical answer to the question (though "Robocop 3" sucks so much that some people refuse to accept any of it as canon).
@Kawayolnyo
@Kawayolnyo 6 ай бұрын
It can't be any "plastic", as at the very last frame of the first movie you can very clearly see him smile widely (with a closed mouth, though). Also, despite many of ROBOCOP 3's inconsistencies and shortcomings/fails/mistakes, it is still myriads of times better than any (live & anime) of the shitty TV series.

@@waterbeauty85 1988's cartoon was absolute atrocity, but it has one thing going for it which will forever make it "acceptable": it aired only for 12 episodes, despite technically planned production for a "standard" run of 13 initially, but, they fully stripped down the last episode off of all of it's funding and funneled that money entirely (down to the very last cent) to make/produce...X-Men The Animated Series' pilot (and we all know how that went). Yes, THAT X-Men The Animated Series. 1988's ROBOCOP cartoon, thus, literally made a sacrifice out of itself, to birth a much better thing. At one hand - good riddance, but at the other - we're indebted to it forever. If 1988's ROBOCOP cartoon would've never ever been made or never aired, who knows what would've happened (if ever) to X-Men's first animated series, so that shitty cartoon has an honor of being lauded as X-Men The Animated Series' "donor" or a parent, of sorts.

So glad you guys enjoyed this film. The original is clearly the best, but this film is a solid follow up. Now, word of warning, RoboCop 3 goes more family friendly. There's not as much violence, swearing, or true darkness to it. A new actor plays RoboCop (he does his best, but doesn't compare to Weller). The only reason to really watch the 3rd film is for Lewis. I'd say the first 20 minutes is the best of the film. It's not a terrible storyline, it's just the execution wasn't great.

To say that roughly 92% of this movie's opening sequence ("Nuke" is Fentanyl, straight up, and the dirty littered streets filled with drug addicts, suffering homeless, and criminals everywhere acting in the open, is current Oregon's Portland, Pennsylvania's Philadelphia, and Saint Francisco, literal hellholes of the country) and middle part (underage/teen delinquency and criminality, absolute rot of mass media and corruption of the government at nearly all levels) was absolutely prophetical, fully matching what is currently going on in US right at this very moment, is astonishing. Many people wrongfully disregard/downplay this movie's messages and points, deeming it "worse than the first", while in reality it's so harshly truthful and scathingly realistic that it's basically a completely flawless masterpiece, it's not just exaggerated satire, but literal prophetic warning, which no one listened to, thus inevitably leading to the downfall of society we're currently witnessing in the so-called self-proclaimed "modern day US", a 1984'esque failed state rife with fascism, corruption and crime. *The* idiotcracy. But there won't be IRL Alex Murphy around to come to help/save you from any of this. Americans did all of this to themselves, by their own hands. It's all ogre.

Early 92 the 500 plus and 600. 1996 the 1200 and 4000. The gtaphics when this movie was made were about as good as it gets. For this movie and for movies like The Lawnmower man SGI systems were used and a low end SGI system back then started at $4000.

They needed to ditch the officer Duffy subplot and flesh out Murphy's wife into a character arc for RoboCop and tie Kane into it. RoboCop 1 is the best of the whole franchise. Violent, scary sometimes, but smart, human, and a very good production value. A classic, indeed. RoboCop 2, it feels more cartoonish, almost like "let's sell some toys", but still retains some of the qualities of the first movie. Robo Kane scene in the docks, killing everybody, it's very scary. Unfortunately, no spoilers, but the enemy robot in Robocop 3 is totally a letdown, cheap solution for a low budget movie. A great RoboCop movie always need a scary, great Robot enemy, nightmare inducing enemy, and Robocop 3 lack it. Plus, the production value overall is much worse, the new Murphy actor did a good job, but swapping actors is always a minus to a series. And the script is simply plain bad. And the TV series, well, it has some interesting stuff, but it's very low budget, I don't think it worth your time. There's a second series called Prime Directive, it's even worse. And the movie reboot, oh god, it's really bad.

The writing of Robocop 2 was a mess kinda comparable to Alien 3 they exchanged writers and directors that's why it feels like different parts in one movie.

This movie was very good but nowhere close to the first. They missed the mark on shock and humour that Verhoeven had and ended up being more mean spirited. That and the core of the first being Murphy's heart and soul's arc is missing and not the central point of the film. At the end it was ok but its a hard to act to follow the first masterpiece. I suggest continuing the sensibility of the first with Total Recall and wrapping it with Starship Troopers. All the same director and similar sensibility. In some ways the spiritual sequels to Robocop

Robocop 3…don’t do it. Think it was straight to video release. The Robocop remake is worth a watch tho. Would make a great comparison discussion.

RoboCop is an absolute MASTERPIECE. Not a single, solitary second of that film feels superfluous. It's INCREDIBLY tight film making with EVERYTHING having a legit purpose to the story and character's. It's just as fresh and relevant today as it was when it 1st came out, and it will continue to be the next 37 years. As for RoboCop 2, there are some decent parts in it but overall it's a disappointing sequel. It feels really dated at times (which the 1st part doesn't), they basically do away with Murphy's development from part 1, for whatever reason, only to do the same thing again but absolutely nowhere as well executed. The dialogue, satire, and commentary is nowhere as solid or smart, the villain of Cain overall was very weak, the CEO of OCP felt like a totally different character, having a 12 year old running the biggest drug gang/business in Detroit was really idiotic, Lewis feels very underutilized, etc. It's just really..."meh". RoboCop 3 is just atrociously bad.

This is a mixture of great and garbage. "They made this to honor him" is brilliant beyond words, but most of the film is just okay.

Robocop 1, masterpiece. Robocop 2... it's ok. Has come cool stop motion. Robo looks more plasticky. Score kinda sucks in comparison to 1. The satire isnt as strong. Robocop 3: oh god what have you done to Robo.

I might still watch it knowing no one warned you about it, but Robocop 3 was trash, and for the same reason the modern remake of Robocop failed. PG-13

You're getting a lot of recommendations as if Robocops movies after 2 are actually something worth watching. They aren't. I'd say even skipping everything after 2 and 100% recommend stopping after 3 is fine. These people saying the Prime Directive series was good must be serious fan boys of Robocop or something because that series was laughably bad. If you want to only watch the best Robocop had it was 1 and 2, that's it.
