History
The RoboCop franchise depicts a near-future dystopian Detroit. Impoverished and overrun by criminal activity, Detroit is being considered by megacorporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP) for a radical redevelopment into what will be called Delta City. RoboCop: Rogue City is set between the films RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3.
RoboCop was originally Detroit Police Department officer Alex Murphy, who was brutally murdered by notorious career criminal Clarence Boddicker. Being legally dead and the Detroit Police being a privatized entity of OCP, Bob Morton, an OCP executive, chose him to become a heavily armored police cyborg. RoboCop gradually regains his memory with the help of Murphy's original partner, Anne Lewis, and pursues Boddicker and his gang, while foiling the plans of Dick Jones, OCP's second-in-command, who tasked Boddicker with assassinating Morton, his rival. .
In RoboCop 2, the crime wave in Detroit is exacerbated by the introduction of a designer drug called Nuke, supplied by Cain, a cult character. The police force, which is gradually being undermined by the OCP, finally follows through on strike threats. RoboCop is also struggling with memories of his past life and stalking his former family, leading OCP to consider producing a more advanced model called RoboCop 2. However, his attempts to replicate RoboCop using dead police officers repeatedly fail. After RoboCop manages to defeat Cain, an ambitious OCP scientist, Dr. Juliette Faxx, chooses Cain as a test subject, extracts his brain, and places him in RoboCop 2. This backfires spectacularly due to his addiction to weapons. nuclear weapons, forcing RoboCop to destroy it. Despite the damage suffered, OCP suffers little public backlash for the project and instead uses Faxx as a scapegoat.
