This, this is what society can produce, an art not just in graphical design but it the storyline and music, that death is inevitable, but that it’s okay, it’s calming to the human brain but a reminder of a masterpiece and all the memories, while it’s just a game, it’s an inspiring and hopeful masterpiece that will make any man cry and appreciate life because in the end when everything and everyone dies, it starts over, this concept and this game shows us what mankind is capable of making and shows what a true memory is and this is why it’s a masterpiece, not just in the graphics or music but the experience and what you learn along the way, this game, this is the best thing humanity has produced and is a true masterpiece compared to anything, because it gives you this feeling, possibly sadness but also hope and that everything will work out in the end, it gives you a sense of security and of a game can do that this is the best god dam game ever to be created, the world is full of wonders and tragedy, but this game shows how beautiful life is and to appreciate every small detail, as I’m writing this I’m am crying, I’m sad but also happy that this game has put a new perspective and every time I hear this song, even when I’m 80 years old, I will still cry tears of sorrow and joy, and hope to look back on life and not to be afraid of death but look at it as if it’s a new beginning, one where everyone I have every loves is… This game is emotional and inspiring, and to anyone who plays it, some advice, it’s okay, everything will be fine, their not gone if they are still remembered, and don’t fear death, it will come sooner or later, but it’s just a whole new world, whether god is real or we recarnate or what ever you think, there is something beyond death, life…

What I always liked about outer wilds is that when I'd talk to my friends that finished the game they would have entirely different lines of thinking for how they solved puzzles/mysteries, one of my best memories of the game... (SPOILERS AHEAD) Involved me trying to get to the sun station. For background I've been playing Kerbal Space Program for years and the understanding of how objects move in space immediately transferred over to Outer Wilds. I looked at the sun station going insane speeds around the sun and thought "Yeah that doesn't look like it'd be that hard to reach, I think I'll just rendevous after I finish up in brittle hollow." I had to literally land upside down so that my character could even walk to the hatch to get out of the spaceship because the game's gravity did not work correctly that close to the sun as you'd be pinned against the wall from "centrifugal" force. In the end I did it but later on, one of the last features I discovered in the game was the teleportation network on ash twin. I face-palmed so hard when I realized you can just teleport to the sun station.

What's so crazy about the game is that progress isn't barred by anything except knowledge. You don't need a weapon, a grapple beam, or a new ability. Everything is possible for you to figure out alone, but if you just keep searching, you'll find more and more and get farther and farther. Definitely nothing else like Outer Wilds.

i was surprised that they said in the documentary that the ship log was one of the last things to be added, it felt so integral to being able to coherently tie all the pieces of the story together. i deeply, deeply love this game though; everything from the soundtrack, to the visuals that lacked the polish of a triple A game but far surpassed most of them in terms of being evocative and interesting, to the masterful writing nailing everything from high concept scifi to small and sweet little personal interactions that you'd find in the nomai dialog. there was one or two environmental puzzles that i found a little annoying or opaque but they were so incredibly dwarfed by all the positives

Outer Wilds is an amazing game, solid 9.5/10. I wouldn't give it a 10 but by itself (no DLC) it isn't repayable (unless you have dementia) the game's form of progression is KNOWLEDGE you could and can finish the entire game in the first 22 minutes of the playing. You just don't know how, that's where the story comes into play. And even if you make a huge mistake the only thing that's permanently broken is my patience after falling through the black hole with no fuel for the 22nd time in an hour. I had a blast playing this game and if I could forget this game entirely just to discover it and play through it again I would. By the way try flying the model rocket to the moon it grants a tiny little achievement.

I wanted to love this game and not just cause I spent $30 on it. I love the art style, the music, the sound design, the fact that it's a story driven videogame. It has so much going for it but I'm 3 hours in and I'm just not as in love with this game as I thought I would be. The somehow lack of information and overabundance of information being given is frustrating, the puzzles aren't very captivating, the lack of a clear direction, the frustrating flying mechanics and the story not really inspiring me to keep digging. Maybe I just need to clear my head for a bit and take a break from it. I'm going to play some more tomorrow and hopefully my feelings on it changes the more I play.

the flying works perfectly and u also have autopilot, its a little bit clunky but that's 100% intentional and you can master the controls completely the lack of information is also perfectly fine because there are SO many places to explore that if you don't have like even an inkling of places you should maybe go after a good three hours i think you need to try and really just think more, it's a game that demands you to be constantly solving mental puzzles instead of physical ones, thinking "I wonder how i'm able to get there?" and stuff

Right after first comment I decided to go back to that Xbox version and it downloaded update and it now seems to work much better than I initially tested. Been playing for about three hours now and there indeed seems to be quite extensive plot line. This time I looked more into what was said by characters in the beginning and went straight into implied locations. Looks like I'm going to spend quite many hours on this one.

@@stanners1714 I think your estimate is quite spot on. I currently know what has happened and why, but haven't quite understood where the endgame is going to happen. It really hits something deep. So play it blind and try your hardest not to spoil it for yourself. It’s so worth it. 10/10.

DON'T listen to this guy, go read the negative reviews on steam. Here is mine: In this game you are stuck in a 22 minutes loop and you will be doing the same thing over and over and ... The gameplay in this game is reading boring and vague text, that's it. Exploration is just spending a ton of time trying to get to a place only to be rewarded with text. Ending? it's text. Don't waste your time on this game.

When I first read the description for this game, I tought the 22 min thing would turn me off, but after playing it I realized it's absolutely fcking genius. I have a feeling that most people watching this have already played the game, me included. I picked it up after a KZbinr mentioned that it is their new favourite game but that they can't talk about the story or the mechanics because it's best to go into that game not knowing anything about it. So I looked at the pictures of the game included in the game's ps store page and immediately fell in love with the art style. Didn't even read the description, just bought it. (not sure if the ps store decription has the same spoiler as the steam description. If it does, I'm glad I didn't read it bc it took me a solid 4hrs after starting the game and 1½-2hrs after launching to have a guess ast to what is going on) Anyway, it now is my favorite game of all time, nothing I've ever played comes close, and I don't think anything ever will. Everything about this game is perfect for me. The art style, the space theme, the controls, the story, rhe exploration, the way it just throws you into the game without telling you what to do, the open world, the lack of combat, the music, everything just fits the perfect game for me. It feels like such a short game but I definitely spent at least 100hrs on that game getting all the possible endings and a platinum trophy. And I spent most of that time on my first playthrough.
