Thank you for this. Saved me from buying a new vacuum for a $3 part!!! I previously changed the thermal fuse thingee on the motherboard. That helped error 13 for a little bit, but it came right back eventually. This capacitor / procedure fixed it. So far so good, no error 13 after about 20 runs & it used to happen 80% of the time. Be careful what capacitor you order people. First one I ordered was correct spec but way too tall to fit. The second one I got was similar specs & just a hair smaller. That one worked. I dunno if it matters, but the capacitors do have polarity. The side with the dash or line is negative.

Cool video & thank you. Nobody did one for the cap repair in the dock. Can I say, adding a little extra solder to the cap pins will make it easier to remove as it gets all the solder flowing. Get a good quality cap if you intend to undertake this job.
@KSToh Жыл бұрын
Thanks! It’s my first time soldering on PCB. I did add some extra solder at first but did not get me anywhere. I am a novice here. I did buy a reliable Rubycon capacitor but the seller supplied me dubious Chongx capacitor. I did not realise until I was reviewing this video! Please subscribe.
@annespacedroid Жыл бұрын
@@KSToh My friend... If that's your first time, you did well. The reason why I stated "good quality cap" is because I did what you did exactly including the rubycon to generic "bait & switch". After changing mine it worked... For 20 minutes then the dock exploded. Opened it back up to find the cap legs had arced across & left a black carbon Arc on the board. That event took out 2 diodes, the main fuse & had completely vapourised 2 tracks on the circuit board. I suspected the cap & removed it to find it was reading around 61uf instead of the 68uf rating. Should have checked it first. That alone shouldn't cause the dock to go bang as the original was reading 57uf. Something about that cap caused a high voltage Arc between its pins on the board. Now, as stated before.... You did well. If you get some soldering flux and put a little of it with the extra solder it really makes a difference. Your iron tip should be clean and silver shiny. If you have layers of black carbon then your iron isn't actually touching the solder & that's commonly the reason why you need to push the iron hard into the work. That cracks off some of carbon & a small surface of your iron now touches the work. Simply wait until the iron is hot enough to use & dip the tip in the same flux & then you can easily solder. Ps I got my $5 back on the dodgy cap....... Unfortunately the damage it did was worth more =(

@@KSToh It is, if you heat up both the pin and the pad it takes about max 10 seconds. Then apply soldet to a little blob. It fills the hole nice. Othervise there is just a solderblob stuck to the pin... not really attatched to the board.

‼️‼️ DANGER ‼️‼️ ATTENTION ‼️‼️ You should be informed in detail about the subject of electrolytic capacitors beforehand. It should definitely be unloaded beforehand. There can be voltages of over 300V at the Elko. It is also important to pay attention to the installation direction. An electrolytic capacitor has a plus and minus pole. If the connection is incorrect, there is a risk of an explosion, which can be dangerous. Therefore, do not handle it as carelessly as shown here. GOOD LUCK and good success! 😊

Thanks for the video, it pointed out a clue. About a month ago I replaced the capacitor with a new one (high quality Panasonic 400V/68uF), unfortunately today the problem returned, the device charged to more than 80%. If I understand correctly, its function is to filter input voltage fluctuations (in my case it's 230V, so with a tolerance of 10% 253V). Taking this into account, the voltage value of the capacitor should be above 356V, so 400V is theoretically sufficient. Could it be that something else is the problem in the power supply circuit? I'm thinking of changing to a capacitor with a higher voltage and higher capacitance, just not sure if it will fit.

With my S5 it will charge all the way to 100% and then a few hours later after sitting on the charger it will then remove itself from the charger and give me the error 13 message. do you think a new charger would fix my issue or do you think its the Mainboard? otherwise the robot works totally fine...
@KSToh2 ай бұрын
I think just change the capacitor.

Thank you very much for the video, but before I fixed the repair, I checked with a working charger of my parents. There is still the problem even after replacing a working charger. What could it be besides a charger???? Thank you .
@KSToh Жыл бұрын
If your parents’ robot works when placed on your charger, then the charger is good and your robot is bad. Otherwise maybe both chargers are bad? If the robot is bad, then maybe it’s the robot motherboard. Beyond my knowledge, sorry!

I had the error 13 on my Roborock S50, so I bought a Roborock S6 pure. Then I saw this clip, and ordered the capasitors from AliExpress. While waiting, I figured if Roborock S50 and S6 pure has the same docking, S50 should work with my s6 docking. Tried it, but still error 13. Perhaps I will try the sandpaper one next.
@KSToh Жыл бұрын
If your S50 has the same error 13 when placed on the S6 dock, then the problem is with your S50 and not the S50 dock. To verify, place the S6 on your S50. If still error 13, then maybe both docks need replacement capacitor 🤷🏻♂️

Resistors don't degrade over time. It is hard to believe a resistor requires replacement, if it is not burnt

Without load, supposed to be around 4.3V. With load, should be around 20V. But no point measuring. It will measure fine but still not work. Just replace the capacitor.

Hi Everybody! I have Roborock S5, and the charging is not working, the vacuum cleaner always come off form the charger. How can i find out if the charger is the problem, or the battery or the vacuum cleaner mainboard? Thx in advance!
@KSToh8 ай бұрын
If the robot keeps coming off the charger, it is very likely the charger. If the battery is no good? The robot will just stop working.

What is the error you are encountering? If it’s the same Error 13, It should still be a capacitor. The only problem is that the circuit layout for S7 is different. So need to identify the correct capacitor.
