What parts were used in constructing the arm? I could not get a clear view from the video.

The only problem i see with this robot is the fact it takes a bit of time to get it lined up witch may cost you points later

Hello, I am from team 3479. I really like your guys is design, but just want to clarify or mention the rules involving the human player. When I talked to an FTC official at the Kickoff, I was told that the player was not allowed to break the vertical plain of the field WALLS. Yet again I am no 100% on that rule. Maybe you know more. Let me know what you come up with.
@thorpeterson29745 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thor from team 7129 here, GS1, part d states: A Human Player cannot break the vertical plane of the Perimeter Wall when there is a Robot or Scoring Element already in the Depot. You are able to break the vertical plain of the field walls to place a stone or capstone if there isn't already a scoring element or a robot in the depot.

My team has already dropped and we are instead going to just be a good FFA school instead because I can beat some Yee-Haws in a stupid labeling chicken parts contest rather than hope that a good engineer falls into my lap.

Look guys, you're alumni now. It's my opinion that builds like this by alumni and mentors doesn't help the kids learn, or do anything to further FIRST's principles. If you want to make an impact now that you're an alumni, then become a FIRST mentor -> just don't put your hands on the robot parts or software. Otherwise, I wish you good luck in your engineering careers as you guys are obviously talented. And no, we don't want to hear your game analysis for this season - let the kids do their own strategic & tactical planning.

@@geeoorge4438 I agree with early reveals built by students, but NOT mentor-builds. Reddit and the other forums are a great place for alumni to answer questions and help teams with the problems they bring. Reveals like this only feed the ego's of the individuals who create them.
@nic69095 жыл бұрын
The thing about these designs is that they are never the best option for the games. They may be heading down the right path but you can't win a higher level competiton with these designs, they're only helpful in proof of concept. I think it sparks imagination and inspiration in students to see that these kind of robots can be achieved in such short amounts of time
@connorm_36055 жыл бұрын
Even in VEX, alumni robot reveals have drummed up a lot of talk, just look at the NorCal RI3D video and thread on the VEX Forum. Even though the creators of that robot are alumni, it shows how everybody can come up with a design that tea,s could consider for their robot. Heck, a VEX U team created the 6-Bar and now its a very popular lift in VEX.

@@nic6909 I can say that these are fantastic for brainstorming, as you can look at them and go, "Hey, that's really good" about one part while also going "This part is really slow, I think I have a better idea for that"
@JasonRahm5 жыл бұрын
I understand your point, but for the many teams that struggle to find any mentors except perhaps the one teacher willing to give their time to the team but lacks skills themself, where would you point them today? Early season reveal videos are a great resource for young and experienced teams alike to build IDEAS, not build clones. But even if they clone the idea, they still have some level of design, fabrication, and programming to do, and they learn a lot along the way. Individuals from the vendors also do prototyping and strategy videos, and are very well received by all I talk to.
