instead of a Cartesian bot, consider putting just a ball under the mouse. rotate the ball to move the mouse in x and y. to make it easier you turn the whole thing upside down of course.

It’s a good idea. I’m concerned about the ball having too much angular momentum, but it should be possible

Why the effort of moving a physical mouse? Why not a custom USB device that acts like a mouse but can be programmed using a second communication method.... UART or so.
