This episode was incredible and I recall seeing it back in the day. Outer Limits was an impressive series, ahead of its time in its storytelling and concise plot lines. Thank you for sharing this clip.

Love this one. So memorable. It's easily one of the best OL episodes, with an ending that kicks you in the heart. So haunting and yet so good in its power and presentation. Plus, we get to see that gorgeous Bradbury Building, which was also used in Blade Runner in '82. That's coincidental, actually, because both this episode "Demon with a Glass Hand" and Blade Runner are similar in a way-- involving the concept of human identity.

Written by Cleveland's own, Harlan Ellison. He also wrote episode, The Soldier, the basis for Terminator. Demon With a Glass Hand is superb in its use of stark German Expressionism, use of light and dark atmosphere, quirky movements by Robert Culp and the bittersweet ending. To be alone forever and not even human!

Terminator also lifted a lot of material from this episode as well: the time traveler is an android; humanity is under threat from a non-human enemy - the Kyben in "Demon..." and Skynet in "Terminator"

The drawback here is the lack of sufficient prosthetics applied to the aliens' appearance so that they don't look too human or out of the ordinary. Meanwhile, the glass hand is truly a remarkable stroke of futuristic thinking, so advanced for it's time that Ellison's creative ability in Sci Fi predates both Herbert (Dune) and Asimov. I think this episode is about the same time as "This Island Earth", or I could be mistaken.

with today's tech the b&w seasons 1&2 episodes of the outer limits can be shown in color with their amazing special effects which were ahead of their time especially for a classic episode of the demon with a glass hand.

Fantastic original score by Harry Lubin. Thankfully he did not employ the theremin, which tended to place other S2 episodes somewhat in B-movie category.

He also repurposed a few themes and motifs from his "One Step Beyond" scores.

While creating AI(artificial intelligence) these prophetic episodes should remind men to ask themselves(should we create something that may one day destroy humanity?)!
