had robotic hernia surgery three weeks ago. this was my second hernia procedure, first one was ten years ago and “open” surgery. the robotic surgery went fantastic. I left the hospital on my own feet three hours later and was walking around easily the next day. amazing.

@aronzabrown3 жыл бұрын
@@wreese37 Yes after time, just be patient I guess.. just make sure you take your meds!! I delayed on taking them to see how bad the pain would be. And 😲 I couldn’t wait for them to kick back in

Surgery from my friend went horrible...the robotic surgery left him with a punctured stomach...now he needs a feeding tube, swallowing water is almost not possible...doctors told him, that he signed a paper that includes what can happen while the surgery so they don't feel responsible for that mistake that happened and nobody can treat or helps him now...he would have been better off and listened to the alternatives...so sad that knowbody can treat him now to finally get anywhen better to have a normal life again

Why is the Tapp method still used since the Tep does not have the high risk of damage to the abdominal organs

I had an "open" bi-lateral inguinal hernia repair. I went with open because there's something reassuring about the surgeon actually laying hands on you. I'm seven days in and the pain has not been that bad. Was able to "go" on day three, but I eat a lot of veggies. I did have a lot of swelling and dark bruising which is now 99% gone. I Have my first post-surgical doctors appointment in 4 days and I'm interested to know when I can get back to bike riding and weight lifting.

They make it sound less painful but the patients I have talked to actually seemed to have less pain with the open hernia repair.

i also had laparoscopic bilateral inguinal hernia repair. i was told to restrict activity, including lifting only less than 10lbs for 6 weeks. apparently after 6 weeks the patient, if the surgeon feels that everything has gone well up to that point, may then begin to incrementally work back up to their previous abilities. however, i suspect it would be best if you had a consultation with your surgeon or at least a physical exam of the repaired hernias by a general practitioner in order to see if the repair is in good standing.

You'll be fine. I had da Vinci robotic hernia surgery just last week. Expect light to moderate pain for a couple days. But after 4-5 days the pain is now gone and I've stopped all my "as needed" pain meds. Good luck!

I had a bilateral hernia repair with the robotic assist. I was scared out of my mind! Make sure you communicate your anxiety with the anesthesia team when you get there. They will give you some good stuff to calm you down. To be honest, they gave me some VERSED and I really don't remember anything and it is glorious. I don't remember being wheeled into the operating room. Last thing I remember was being prepped and giving my wife a hug. Then I woke up in my recovery bed with the whole damn thing over with. I am now on day 6 of recovery and I can move around fine, and even drive. You WILL be OK!

Total bs small hernias should be left alone and mesh should be avoided at all cost. My doctor talked me into this nonsense and left me with chronic pain and suffering. I wish I would have left the hernia alone I would take that occasional pain over mesh pain in a heart beat!
@theweekendwarrior35043 жыл бұрын
For me it made more sense to get the mesh because I was really into lifting so I wouldn't be able to lift heavy again without making it worse. Got the surgery 2 weeks ago and I'm already feeling great

Definitely avoid robotic if you are female: There is a higher rate of them accidently cutting the Round Ligament(holds the uterus in place) with robotic Vs. open.
