Some clips of robots developed at MIT's Leg Lab. Marc Raibert would go on to found Boston Dynamics, where BigDog and PETMAN were made.

I visited Raibert's & Sutherlands lab at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh in '82. Best robots ever.

Yes it was on 60 minutes or Nova or something at the time, a segment about robots. I remember when I was watching at ~6 year old comparing it to my fantasies of robots from movies, thinking "what's the big deal, it's just a pogo stick going around and around".

@@jeeziss I had what's was probably that same documentary taped and would watched it over and over for years on the 90s.... I've probably seen it hundreds of times. I wish I could find it online to watch it again.

A robot should have eight legs, like a spider. The front ones used as sensors when moving, second pair climbing, 3rd pair ground clearance and LR balance, 4th pair propulsion.
